I got bored today since I had the day off and went to my shop and hung out for a while and talked myself into buying baseball because of all of my fellow board members. I told my guy Eddie if I could pick the litter out of an almost newly opened box of SPA. I decided to pull all off thick packs out(a total of 11 @ $5/pack. I ripped them at the store. I pulled both letterman out of the box out of the 11 packs. Here they are:

I ended up buying two sealed boxes and I will be opening up here in the next few minutes and I'll post my results.

Here's a good question. Why would you sign with black on blue???

The guy at your card shop let you "pull all off thick packs out"?

Tony,
No, he let me pull the packs I wanted, and I pulled al of the thick ones. I don't usually buy packs of cards but wanted to try the SPA. Then after I ripped them I bought two boxes.

Okay, okay...I'll bite.
So, does your "guy" inform everybody else who wants to buy the remaining packs that the good/thick ones have already been pulled?
If not, he's not a very reputable "guy"!

Who in the heck is that Hansack dude? And, where are your other 2 lettermen cards if you bought 2 additional boxes?
Quote "pulled all the fat packs" that really sucks for the customer who brings his kid in and plunks down 11.50 a pack and gets base cards, how does that store owner actually look that customer in the eye! That is the wrong way to do business, those boxes should be behind the counter and protected from pack searching.

Actually yes. Another guy came in and asked him what he had left in the SPA and the "guy" told him that I just pulled two letterman!!!
Kramer,
The first post is the first 2 lettermen and then the 3 lettermen and the redemption! That equals 6

if I walked into a store and someone told me all the fat packs were gone, I would never walk back in it...lettermans are in the fat packs and to know that they are all gone gives me a hint that something is up....thats why I like it how some stores pick them for you, the way it should be....at least you didnt pull a good letterman in the fat packs :D nice papelbon though
hansack I believe plays for the red sox as well

Sean Avery is a Pro Pest.
Packs are $5 not $11.50, apparently.
The wording of the post isn't clear as to whether he searched and took only fat packs, but it seems that the only reason to even mention it is to brag, and that, to me, seems weird.
Please tell us the name of the shop so if we can determine that you did get to search the box that we can stop shopping there. (Well, those that are local. I would never shop there anyway because I am here... but I could move!)
Am I ornery tonight or what? Geez...

Jughead - I'm right there with you. It's early morning (or late night), and I'm on the message boards. I'm grumpy myself...

Sorry about the 6 vs. 4 - I saw the letter "I" and assumed they were the same!
Anyway, after you left - and the next guy wanted some SPA - bet he didn't let them know the Lettermen had been pulled. If he was that honest, he would have lowered the price. The pack price is based on a chance at a Lettermen...

pack price with all the fat packs gone should be $1...base cards dont go for crap :)

Guys,
If it makes you happy I will go to the shop today and buy the rest of the packs left in the box. I'm sure that the guy there is honest enough to let whoever wants the product know that the letterman were pulled. That is just the way he is. This was the first time I've pulled more than 2 packs out of an open box. Like I said, I usually just buy sealed boxes because of the fact that you never know whats left in an open box.

I think anyone who sells product and allows ANYONE to feel the packs of any product should go out of business. This type of practice is why so many people have a bad taste in their mouth about the hobby. As soon as I opened a box of SPA BB I could not only tell which packs were "fat" but also which 2 contained the lettermen. I opened the rest of the box because in all good conscience I could not sell any as packs. Instead I sold them only as sealed boxes and as a result I did not make as much profit per box as I would have selling packs but at least I can sleep at nite. Just the way I feel about dishonest people in the hobby.

Well, I want back to the card shop today and told my guy what happened on the board and he got pissed at me and I bought the remaining packs left in the box. There were 10 and they all contained base cards. You guys made me rethink what I did and I admit it was wrong. I will probably stick to just buying boxes and cases!

Nick, I think that what you did was the honorable thing to do. Was the guy pissed at you because you told us what had happened? If I were you, I would be leary of purchasing too much from him...

Tony,
Yes, for that reason and also because I pulled all the thick cards out of the box. I've been going there for soooo long. They are a very reputable place. They have multiple locations in the area. The last thing I want to do is upset the people that are involved in this hobby.

I think its crappy UD isn't putting more decoys in the packs. I got a case of Sp legendary cuts and I think there was one decoy per box along with the two jerseys. This is why I would never buy just packs of this product.
