When you have a new card hit of your PC player and you know, WITHOUT a doubt, what the fair market price is. You offer it only to get a ridiculous counter offer or decline.
I'm not talking getting a lowball offer declined but you offer right at, or even a little more than you should, the right price. Then you let the card sit for a week and still see that your offers were the only ones?
I'm trying, desperately, to give these sellers money and they won't take it!
CRAZY!

Yeah, some people over value all of their cards. I used to do it before I started online. Good Luck getting your raymond Berry autos from NT though man.

No, I just move on to the next card. This is a hobby and is not meant to bring any drama/negativity in my life so I simply don't allow that to happen.

Thanks bud. I'm only down to the Berry/Gregg Booklet. Case in point, the only one listed is at $799.99, market value is probably in the $80-$135 range. I offered $125, he countered at $599.99.
I'm sorry you got blasted on your NT break but don't think you're making the money back on me.

Makes no sense to me how sellers continually throw money away by listing a card with a ridiculous BIN over and over again. Have seen many of the same cards of my PC guys at the same price for years.
The lack of business sense is staggering for some dealers.

I offered on one card three times 3 months in a row. So I'd offer once in the first week, once in the second, once in the third, all fair prices. Repeated that every time it was relisted. Finally pm'ed the guy like "okay, what gives, my price is fair." He messaged me back basically saying "I can get more off Ebay guaranteed." It has now been 5 months...why don't you just sell it off Ebay then instead of relisting every month?

Yep. I got auto declined on $75 offers for 2 Boo Weekley Plates (National Pride Autos). Guy has a $195 BIN on 2 of them. I've bought 2 others (Base Autos) for $75 and $80 each. A Paula Creamer plate went for $75 shipped. I'm pretty certain I gave more than fair offers. I'm the only one making offers too. Guess I'll just do the base plate autos...

I've dealt with this seller before on a 2011 Bowman Chrome Red Refractor. He asks crazy high prices and then his card sold for right around what I offered when he finally sent it to auction.

I know what your saying. This eBay seller keeps listing a limited kellen Davis auto 1/1 for 34 and it never sells. I messages him saying ill give him $28 for it and he said no. I think 28 was even high but I wanted the card

Had this happen to me w/a basketball card, seller had it for $40/bo he had 15 offers all expired (I maxed out on my offers), and he wouldn't respond to questions - or offers as you can tell. Most of the same card was going for 20-25 and I was in that range. It finally sold for LESS than any of my offers and after being relisted 4 times. I managed to trade for it or a similar one a month or so later.

I have watched auctions end and then have the seller raise the price for a BIN.
For example, I was watching a card that had the auction start at $50. The card ended with no bids, so the seller proceeds to put it as a BIN for $75.
In what world does that make sense?

DA has the Peterson shadow box listed at 247.00. I have offered fair market for it, above fair market for it, WAY above fair market for it - all auto declined. That is the most annoyed I have ever been with BIN/BO.

Yep, it's ridiculous and certainly ticks me off, however I should note that there have also been instances where another version of the card has come up and I ended up paying less than what I offered for the original card.

Had this same thing happen with a Dalton NT RPA before I settled on the one in my avatar. I love how sellers always rationalize their ridiculous prices as well.
As far as BO - I love how I'm working a high-end trade for two cards of equal ebay selling value, only to be asked at the last minute if I can throw in another card worth $75-$100 to sweeten the deal. Oh, yes please. I'm a stupid jackass and I'd love to give you $600 worth of cards for your $500 in cards. There are a couple of people on these forums that I'm surprised ever work a successful trade. They must catch a sucker every now and then.

If you were willing to go $28, why not throw in the extra $6 for a PC 1/1. Are you just holding out on principle?

I hear what the OP is saying... But I think it depends on the card... If five exist, one sells, and another pops up for you to get, it might be the last time that you ever get the chance again... Logically that second card should carry some sort of premium, as it is assumed to be in demand... Just something to consider I think...

I'm not disagreeing at all, I have thought the same thing, but it is their card. Maybe they are not in dire need of cash, maybe they really do believe the card is worth more, maybe in a previous BIN they have sold too quick, maybe persistence in listing does pay off.
I have had it happen numerous times where I believe a card is worth more than "fair" offered price and have been told I will never sell for my price only to sell the card for what I wanted for eventually. It costs $.50 to list a card for 30 days BIN, I can list for an entire year for $6, so cost of listing does not really come into play.
Right now I have a Ubaldo Jimenez Logo Pach Auto up, was asking $199 (too much yes, but don't want to undersell), got offered $140. This is a very good and tempting offer, but I believe I can get more so I declined. I have relisted it 2 times. Maybe a better offer comes in, maybe it doesn't. I'm willing to take that chance, if I lose out on a few bucks so be it.

Here's the thread. He's edited the original post and removed the $50K part. It's still a very nice card but I think my reply clearly shows why it would never reach $50K. And yes I agree it was all written in the excitement of the moment. But the post is a prime example of how some folks overvalue some of their cards. But the reality all boils down to their card, their price. One of three things will always happen. Someone will pay the insane price, the seller will fold and sell for much less than what they are asking because they either come down to earth or really need a quick sale, or they end up sitting on it an relisting it several times. It all depends who is more patient, seller or buyer.

Of course, but like I said, there's no sense in that when you're a dealer.
The marginal cost of each initial/repeat fixed listing isn't much, but when one has decent volume, such a mentality will hit a dealer hard.
I can understand that people who are not dealers do it because they overvalue their own cards and can "afford" to wait, but it doesn't make it any less nonsensical in principle.

Sure, but why put them "for sale" if you won't ever actually sell them. Putting ridiculous BIN's on cards on eBay is like me putting a for sale sign in front of my house and then asking 3-4x what it's actually worth.
My house is "for sale" if anyone wants to pay off my mortgage, student loans (for my wife and I), wife's car, and the house I would love to own across town...

Because they actually sometimes sell! Even in the housing market. One of my neighbors house was worth around 78K and someone put an offer for 96K. He sold it ofcourse. He said he would of took 70K.

I'm not talking about a 20-25% "overpricing". I'm talking about 2-300% overpricings. My example are Boo Weekley Printing Plates priced at $200 a pop when the market has been set clearly in $75-80 range. If the guys would counter in the $90-100 range, I'd accept 125% overpaying. I'm the only one putting in offers one 3 different plates. All declined either automatically or without counter.
