First thing that comes to mind is the Tri-Star product with just a sticker auto in the middle.

So it's going to look something like this one?

2011 Upper Deck World of Sports Athletes of the World Autographs - Eric Hosmer | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-Upper-Deck-World-of-Sports-Athletes-of-the-World-Autographs-Eric-Hosmer-/230776862798?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35bb5f784e)

so it will be like those world of sports autographs with just stickers and no pictures of anything. Oh UD how low will you go!

10 UD RIPKEN JETER SMITH YOUNT World of Sports Sports Nation Autograph Quad /25 | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-UD-RIPKEN-JETER-SMITH-YOUNT-World-of-Sports-Sports-Nation-Autograph-Quad-25-/140731847626?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item20c44593ca)

Crazy. They should just sell the stickers to another company with a license, but I doubt any of those companies trust UD enough to know for sure that the autos would be real...

I can't imagine they can be worse than World of Sports in 2010, but I guess they can find a way.

I can see Group A autos being of people alike to the caliber of Uggla, Brandon Phillips, Andre Ethier, etc. Can't see them having hundreds of Griffey autos laying around still.

Even if they did, I'm willing to bet a Griffey auto pulled as a sticker with no serial numbering and no pictures wouldn't even cover the 80 dollar cost of a box.

wow if the cards don't have pics of players on them at all, that sucks. i don't understand why UD doesn't make baseball cards with the players in their college unis. they have the NCAA license but never make NCAA baseball cards. i think that would be cool if they are legally allowed to do a product like that.

$200+ for 3 cards is always risky, this takes it to another level with the idea of not having an MLB license or the chance for on-card autos.

But who knows, maybe it'll look good, get popular and start sellling for $500 pack.

That's the beauty of this industry.

lol yeah i know i lot of the stars hit the pros straight out of high school, but there still are a lot of good guys that played some college ball. UD could definately make a set out of them imo. plus add retired stars & legends and they'd have enough for a solid set. it's at least a lot better than no image sets haha

I just spoke with Sports Images and it is $80 wholesale to dealers. If someone is charging $200 they are ripping you off. Dont believe the hype. Its $80 and 18-box case. There are 2-3 Level A autographs per case.

RichSlyFox14
04-23-2012, 04:33 PM
cardboard connection is reporting 3 cards per pack, 3 packs per box. so 9 autos total per box. a price isn't mentioned but that's probably where the $200 is coming from.

if this is the case, i might actually buy a box lol. the pre-sell info says it has a really stacked checklist and its a very limited product. of course i want to see what the cards look like though. hopefully they aren't that bad, considering the circumstances.

They're trying to get the impulse buys, so that when people open it, they don't know what to expect, and just get a no name triple auto and two prospects.

Or, to go even worse in quality, three decoys with auto stickers on them.

Yea, that's what we've been talking about, but it seems distributors and "that website" have varying info. I'm sure we won't know for sure untl the 1st, but I can't see this product having any steam consider a) NOTHING known about it, b) Bowman is released 8 days after this c) It's Upper Deck and d) It's Upper Deck.

At either 80, or 250, there is an at best (whether its a 6 or 18 box case) 1/3 chance you get whatever an "A" Auto turns out to be. Not worth the risk at 80 OR 250 a box.

You never know, Upper Deck could reallybe seeing this as a "last hurrah" and trying to milk every single cent they can. Their image is already tarnished in the baseball card world, and they are getting sued left and right, so maybe this is a final bang, get every cent they can type of thing. Why be secretive about your first baseball product of the year that you are selling for that much money? I don't know any shop owners that are going to say "really, no info, sticker autos and no checklist? I'll take 10 cases!!"

I see there being no chance that this is a set with lots of value unless abosolutely no one orders it and theres only like 100 cases made. Which I highly doubt wil happen, there will be enough ordered from pure curiousity to make the product watered down enough that there won't be a quad auto every 3 boxes.

Best case, They do have HOFers, but I doubt anyone here will be seeing these horrible looking cards and saying "I NEED that in my PC". Upper Deck fast-tracks Signature Edition baseball

By Chris Olds | Beckett Baseball Editor

The next Upper Deck baseball set is coming soon — as in next week.

This year’s SP Signature Edition will arrive on May 1 with what the company is touting as “the best lineup of living baseball players ever offered in one product.”

Each three-card pack will carry a suggested retail price of $255 with three autographed cards inside — two single-signed cards and one card with multiple sigs. In some cases, the company said, there will be as many as eight signatures per card.

Of course, without a league license or players association deals for baseball, the cards are likely to be without photos or logos — and no card images have been released in advance of this fast-tracked product, which will include six boxes per case. (Want a checklist or OPG for past Signature Edition sets? Click here.)

Upper Deck’s preview information stated that there will be 50 different Hall of Famers included in this one as well as multi-signed cards for World Champions (1946-now), Hall of Famer combos from the Classes of 1972, 2007 and 1991 (get out your history books to figure out those), cards for members of the 3,000-hit club, 500-home run club and more.

Single-signed cards will include retired players, active players prospects and more, while there also will be manufactured patch autographed cards in the mix, too, with players grouped by team, Hall of Fame enshrinement, nationality and more.

Absolutely asinine. Unless the auto checklist begins and ends with Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, Dimaggio, Shoeless Joe, and Honus Wagner, there is absolutely no chance of even breaking even.... Anyone who buys this should be committed to their local asylum.

My distributor says 9 autos (3 1 pack boxes) for the $2xx, which puts it in the $20-30 range per auto.

But like someone said earlier, we'll have to see what is exactly correct once the product comes out.

It's tempting to open, but I know I wouldn't want any cards from a set that doesn't have photos, so at that point I'm strictly gambling. I usually don't win.

Saw on another site that there was an injunction on the product with an immediate hold and do not distribute. No other details from any other sites to back this up.

They posted on Twitter that is was delayed. But the good news they said was no redemptions! Easy thing to guarantee on sticker liquidation.

Probably got a call from MLB's lawyers putting a stop order on that crap.

I was told when I called my LCS today that they heard Upper Deck was being sued, and as mentioned above, were required to have all the product they sent out to be returned to them. Shame, I was interested to see what this looked like.

I wish someone reputable would buy the UD name, keep the designers, and hire a new customer service staff.
