2012 Value Box Price Hike

Just went to my local Wal-Mart to pick up some value boxes to scratch the itch, went to walk away with them and noticed there was a sticker on them that said "16.49" instead of the usual 14.99. Sure enough, that was the price of them. Just a warning for anyone going out looking to buy them, definetly not a "value" at that price.

I see them all the time at Target at full price. Quit buying them once I got enough codes to get the free set.

Not sure how the 2012 value boxes are worth more then the 2011, but apparently Topps thinks so. Waste of money at $14.99 IMO

2011 Value Boxes were $14.99 retail (all of them for baseball) - it was a Wal-Mart price cut that was causing them to be $10.98

My target and Walmart have tons of the 2012 value boxes.

I'm not a buyer unless they're on sale

I did really well on the 2012 value boxes, but I wouldn't touch them at $14.99 let alone $16+. I got mine on sale at Meijer when cards were 20% off, so they were only $12 each. Now that was a value! :D

I dont think that theeritage Value Boxes are worth it....i would just wait until the bowman chrome ones come out or just get the old ones

Can anyone else confirm this price hike. Just found 5 of them at another Wal-Mart for the usual 14.99

I'm being to wonder if the re-stocker at my local Wal-Mart marked them up there because she knows I buy them....anyone ever run into that before?

I haven't seen them marked up around me...just the normal $14.99

I think it was just an error. When I made a lap through Southern PA looking for value boxes a few months back I found some 2011 bowman draft marked 40% off. Probably the same type of error by the vendor, just in the opposite direction.

I also so a 2010 Platinum retail box today at Walmart for $40 for the first time. But from what i've read they aren't worth picking up.

They probably put markdown stickers from another product on there. My guess is that it's an error. TRU sells them at $17.99 or $19.99, don't remember, and they have special boxes with no price printed on them.

They did the same for the 2011's with BC.
