What? How do they make $20 a pack? I wanted to say something but I was so surprised that a guy would be showing his son something so pathetic. To me it just seemed like a losing proposition on their part.

If they resell it as a hot pack they will make a couple extra bucks, not much more. If they sell what they pull they might make an extra $2 if lucky enough.

I have seen some hot packs go for 40 dollars if they know for certain whats in them. Most do sell arounf 8-10 dollars

Next time I see someone pack searching I will be recording it on my phone. See if it stops them. Maybe post it on the people of Walmart website that is full of awesome pictures.
Its just the principle of the matter.

That's actually a good idea. This would have been perfect for people of Walmart. They were doing this at the checkout line of they only open register so everyone was just kind of staring at them like they were crazy. Even if they made a few dollars a pack it's such a weird, sleazy, degrading way to make money that I can't imagine anyone with a job doing it.

Out of curiousity, which Target was it? I have pulled relics/autos out of loose packs from both Warwick Targets... I also saw a guy searching in the Worcester Wal-Mart... I try not to hang out in the card section too long lol... I couldn't imagine sitting there with all of the packs feeling them up

Most of those guys resell for $3 profits, and it takes away from the fun of a 10 y old kid buying a pack and getting a hit
I haven't bought a loose retail pack in over 2 years

North Attleboro, MA...I've actually pulled some good cards at this target before.
For cards I like the exit 7 Walmart in RI. Last check they had 2011 value boxes.

Coventry... That's where I'm originally from... I cleaned them out of value boxes before Christmas when visiting my family

They had them two weeks ago when I went.
I drop a few bucks at their feet and start walking away. They always glance down and then back at me to see if I notice, them almost drooling, waiting for me to leave. It's sad. I shake my head and let them keep it.
I look at retail like a small diversion. A few bucks for a few minutes of entertainment. I'm not looking for a big hit, just something to keep it fun.
If there's absolutely nothing except pack-searched trash, it's not worth it. Fortunately at my local Targets, people try to steal the big ticket stuff so packs are usually pretty clean. Grab a few packs to open at the bar or at a game (games are the best because there are always kids around who love getting cards and parents who appreciate it).

Some of the Wal-Marts around me keep them behind the counter, which is a nice deterrent. I find that those places generally have everything in stock as well

I saw a guy pack searching at my Target a couple weeks ago, I said something to him and he claimed he wasnt pack searching, h was "looking for a specific card for his set". what a load of BS. I told him kids buy these packs and he is taking all the better packs and leaving the crap for everyone else and he just insisted he wasnt pack searching when he was clearly pressing his fingers across the edges of every pack to try to figure out what it had in it. How pathetic and he didnt even stop after I said something.

I just bought a bunch of GQ racks that had been fanned through. Still got 2 hits and plenty of good framed paper cards even though the packs had all been pushed down to see who was in there. I just laughed. What are these guys searching for if they spend an hour molesting packs and still let an auto and relic slip to me?

Some actually just look for set needs

people molest the packs just looking for set needs? there is no way they can possibly feel up a pack and know if a certain base or insert card they need is in there.

Maybe his son at 14 was showing the Dad how it is done? Happens all the time. Packsearchers are like velociraptors, they hunt in pairs or better. I see these butt clowns all the time in the Silicon Valley stores...
Beyond everything else, these losers molest these packs to the point of damaging the cards inside them. Boils my blood. What idiots.
