Standard, NBA had to do it. There is no way he doesn't sit out a game, I'm surprised he didn't get more for it actually. Accident? Not so much. Trip? Not so much. As good as Rondo CAN be, he is certainly not your ripest orange on the tree.

the one game is expected. i dont see how anyone thought he'd get more than one game. all he did was get back-to-back T's and made contact with a ref. it was a slight bump; it wasnt as if he threw the ball at him (again) lol or anything crazy like clotheslined or elbowed or jump into the stands or anythin else metta world peace has done in his career

Yeah, even if he did trip, he was gonna get a game. Its the rules. But saying he deserved more for leaving the court quickly, a harmless chest bump (yes it was harmless) and he got what he deserved. No way he was getting more.
Pierce needs to step up though, we can do this without him. This just proves he is NOT the person you build around

thanks for quoting and bolding my post but the rule book says any incidental/intentional contact results in automatic one-game penalty. so you bolded the part that backs up what i had previously stated... that one-game suspension was expected. so again, not sure why anyone thought it would be anymore than 1 game

big game coming for Avery Bradley
the Celtics are still going to lose, but Bradley will have a big game

does the rule book say unintentional contact is one game suspension?
if so then this should have been more then one game?

Maybe.
I think this is the Paul Pierce show and he runs point and everything goes through him. Bradley will probably get a little more action with cutting/rebounding since Pierce's first option wont be the pass, like Rondos was.
Look at the games when Rondo was out, and Pierce was amazing.

After listening to Maxwell today I'm feeling a lot better about game 2, even without Rondo. 1-1 split heading back to Boston on Friday.

If Garnett and Pierce can get in the flow, they can turn this series around with a much needed victory in game 2. I was very disappointed with how Rondo handled himself regardless of how bad the officiating was (or wasnt? I didnt watch the game just the rondo replay)...

It was bad, just like all officiating this game. There should have been a jump ball, but Rondo just exploded like a child.
Even if the Celtics lose tomorrow, I can see them taking both games in Boston and making this a best out of 3 series.
Josh Smith needs to continue his Ray Allen type shooting for the Hawks to keep this going

If Ray plays, Boston will put it out and allow them to have a shot at the series. If Ray is out, they are done imo.

the call in question wasn't really that bad... a jump ball maybe but Bass clearly tackled the guy on the floor... easy call to make as a ref... rondo just exploded like a little baby

Ray Allen wont play. He is done, at least for this round.
I dont think it means the Celtics are done though, he was a corpse for half the year

Rondo was more upset about the Davis missing the out of bounds call a minute before the jump ball.

Don't think you will see Ray. More Pierce running the offense with Dooling getting additional minutes and Bradley at the point. Also expect a big game from KG after the 28 year old rookie ran his mouth.

Wasn't shocked that he got suspended. Was shocked that he threw a fit. He really needs to control his emotions better but some players are like that I guess.

I have watched the play again and the cal was not really a bad one! It was a matter of both grabbing the ball, but Bass went over the head of Smith and made contact! Foul most days of the week!
And for the Celtic lovers who still want to say it wasn't on purpose, even Stern thinks you are dreaming:
And, as for anyone out there who tries to claim that Rondo "accidentally" ran into Davis after tripping over a teammate's foot, NBA Commissioner David Stern has a message for you: No. Just…no.

Well thats good that Stern cleared up tripping over a teammates foot. Now what about tripping over the refs?

he clearly chest bumped him... there is no question about it...
and he shouldn't have even been stepping towards the ref in the first place...

REALLY?? You still think it was unintentional??
Gotta give you credit for your blind love of your team.... but also gotta suggest that you increase your bandwidth do you can watch the replay clearer! ;)

I didn't say he didn't intentionally do it. I think he did. All I am saying is that David Stern said that he tripped over a teammates foot when it was the refs. As for stepping toward a ref I see many players step towards refs to argue calls.

Where did you read unintentional? I THINK IT WAS INTENTIONAL!! Did he get tripped up by the refs foot?

No, Stern didn't say the bit about it being a teammates foot. The writer said that bit and then quoted the response of Stern when asked if it is an accident.!

It was Zimmerman's fault. Rondo was just "standing his ground".
