Congrats to him as he does a good job rebounding, blocking, and covering the paint. But Ibaka's blocking skill is just mind-blowing with 3.7 blks @ only 27mins/gm. Not to mention the opponent shot alterations and driving hesitations that his presence alone creates. Anyone else think he was snubbed?

I think Tyson deserves it, and good for him. I like Ibby too, but if you compare the stats for the season, blocking is the only thing he has more of than chandler. His blocking stats are awesome BTW, but Chandler is also credited with taking the Knicks overall defense to a higher level of play.

Do you think his cards will see more value?

That and Carmelo actually trying after D'Antoni was fired :)!
I am fine with Chandler winning it, I had no idea who else would be good to win it other than Ibaka or KG, any of the 3 would have been fine for me

Not at all. Complete joke he got as high as he did. His (Ibaka) individual defensive metrics are extremely average and the team numbers are even less impressive. Howard and KG were significantly better on that end of the court.

i think he is somewhere in between..he is a quick leaper who blocks alot of shots (obviously) but he dosent really intimidate like a howard or kg..
and his 1 on 1 defense isnt nearly as good also..
you arent going to body-up on dwight howard in the low post..
he is strong and 265 pounds..
ibaka is what 235?
ibaka will erase a few points though with those lightning fast blocks on guards getting tothe rim..

Are the votes made public?
I'm curious if Kawhi Leonard received any votes. I think he can win it in a few years.

Chandler deserved it - no issue with that - outside of that the voting is suspect at best. Have to wonder what these writers use as criteria.

Proximity to team. Look at the Heisman voting by location. Many votes are cast defensively (no pun intended).

Chandler is a decent choice.
However, I personally think Kevin Garnett has the biggest impact on his team defensively. The man is a beast.

Ok...agree with everyone regarding Tyson edging Ibaka. Tyson is more an all-around defensive physical presence.
