2009-10 Signature Collection Auto's Going OFF! on Ebay

I know this is a huge set and i've seen some random auto's go for way more than they are guided for but this one is outragious!:

That has to be the most expensive Drexler in the history of Drexlers

THe jordan from that set probably goes for less than the drexler. Its sticker auto and not numbered. Not a great design either, no idea why some people are paying so much. But doesn't mean that the set is "going off"

There are a few players (not MJ, not Rose, not Lebron, etc) that are very short printed. I believe Drexler and Rondo would fall under that category. I sold a Olajuwon a few months back, only seen a handful of those. Regretting that now.

Crazy when a few set collectors go at it. I'm glad some people have the $$$ to throw around on an ugly sticker Dominic McGuire autograph! YIKES!

The whole set is ugly in general, tons of scrubs, autos go off the stickers, design is bland at best. BLAH!

haha, I actually bought the Rose because it was the cheapest Rose Bulls uniform auto I could find! Definitely wouldn't be my first choice if price wasn't an issue

It is the last and biggest auto set that UD ever produced! (NBA)

So the set will always hold value IMO. Some of them are real SP but you have to guess how rare, so people will pay whatever they have to to get the set because they don't know if one will come up again!

As well as there being a fair few people attempting the set, there's also the player collectors who need the card, and I know of one big-spending Drexler fan, not sure if this was him but if it's really SP'd then this doesn't surprize me.

The rondo is very SP because not many of them were actually made. They only had enough stickers to make what they did and the rest were never made

the set is huge, some 150+(?) players in the set. There are A TON of HOFers aswell as scrubs. There are a ton of short prints. There is in fact a completed set in HK.

I don't know for sure, but judging by the amount of them I have seen on ebay I would say it is not short printed like the Rondo is.

I know the rondo had a handful of live autos but the rest were redemptions...i think they told people they weren't going to make them and had them replaced.

I alos remember seeing the kobe on ebay bin/obo @ $1000.00 but it was a redemption.

I loved this product...it was cheap $60.00/box with 3 hot boxes per case. Wishing i held on to all my autos. I pulled some nice ones only to sell it for nickles and dimes

I think it's a cool set because it has all sorts of players in the set... from rookies to legends. Plus it's such a large set. You don't see sets like this produced that often.

Also, the design isn't all that bad. I've had a few in hand and they look pretty cool as long as the player signs in the right color ink.

To be fair, how long should they be expected to hold onto the cards for?

I think it is reasonable to offer a replacement, but you can't expect them to keep stockpiles of cards until someone finally busts a box they have been sitting on for years??

That's what I was thinking as well. I still think it's crazy that they would pay that much for these sticker autographs though.

I have been watching a few of the players in this set. The print run discrepency from player to player is extreme. The rarity of certain cards in this set are driving the price. I am unaware of any print-run list, so the unknown also is worrisome for collectors after a particular card. If you see one or two you don't know if another even exists.

Most still seem to sell pretty low though. I see a Lebron got $130 last month. Hopefully they do go up though, still sitting on a Rose auto from that set.

UD have no idea what goes on in their own output... they told me specifically that a card was made and packed out and numbered to 10, yet it has NEVER BEEN SEEN. I've seen every single other one in the set (including the SPs numbered as few as 2) and some of them I've seen 2-3 times or more. Yet this one 'common' one has somehow been hidden for a few years? Doubt it. So the person you spoke to probably had no clue, but the card was released in a small quantity.

I was told that they didn't have enough to fulfill the whole run and they didn't bother to get the rest once they lost their license

That is an amazing set!...congrats man...i can't imagine how long that took you to complete. I haven't even seen some of those auto's before. it's too bad they only made 176 of the 200+ autos they said they were going to produce.
