Guys,

I just got a first for me. A message from Ebay warning me about keyword spamming in one of my listings.

It basically said that they weren't going to take it down, but wanted me to review it (and all my listings) to make sure I'm not violating any policy. It goes on to read "If you determine there isn't a violation, no further action is required at this time".

As far as the item description goes, whenever I list any SGC graded cards I always include both grades in the listing. I was under the impression that the second grade from SGC is an equivalent PSA or BGS/BVG grade so I title them like the one "Big Brother" felt compelled to write to me about:

1972 Topps #112 Greg Luzinski Graded SGC 92=PSA 8.5 NM-MT+ Phillies White Sox

So my question is, would you consider this keyword spamming? If so, I will revise all of my current SGC listings. If not, should I revise anyways to avoid problems with ebay?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I wouldn't include PSA.

I think many people consider using the names of other grading companies in the title as keyword spamming. If your card was graded by SGC, there's no reason why BGS or PSA needs to be listed in the title of your auction.

Yeah...I would agree....there are, I suppose, people who search specifically for BGS or PSA graded items and your listing would show up in that search.

Bottom line is that someone reported you.

Take out PSA and take out the team he is not listed with and you should be OK.

My question to the OP is do you really consider ebay "Big Brother"?

This is keyword spamming at it's best:

Jason Phillips Phillips Signed Autographed ball Ichiro Pujols Darvish Ichiro Bay | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jason-Phillips-Phillips-Signed-Autographed-ball-Ichiro-Pujols-Darvish-Ichiro-Bay-/221026369813?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item337632c115)

It doesnt matter what we think honestly. Like the other poster said-you were reported. PSA has someone troll ebay (or an employee) to find where they feel they are being misrepresented. In fact a lot of companies do this on the internet now with their brand/logo. PSA probably feels you are using their name to promote selling something that has nothing to do with them. So if you think of it that way then yes its spamming and technically illegal since you are "profiting" from it.

I am sure if you do not change it they will just keep reporting it when they decide to browse ebay.

I'd say definitely keyword spamming with PSA, but there's so many other morons that use "No auto", but Harper for anything of a Nationals player, Tebow for anything Broncos/Jets, etc.

Considering PSA has nothing to do what so ever with the cards selling yes its keyword spam. Also I am not sure where you got this sgc x= psa x information but it seems risky cause what if someone tries to crossover and receives a worse grade?

Yes clearly keyword spamming anyone who does that should be premaritally banned from ebay and possibly the internet.
