Call me a fool but I think we at least have a shot against the heat, especially if Bosh is out. For some reason LeBron seems to shut down against the big 3. Hell maybe Doc sends out some scrub to wrap up Wade and whip him to the floor dislocating his elbow (what? a man can dream right?) anyone else have any thoughts?

Just too tired and too broken down to get though LeBron and the Heat.

Anything can happen but LeBron and Wade are just too damn athletic.

Heat win in 5. And then lose to the spurs in the finals. Celtics have to rest & prepare for mondays game w/ the heat. Heat didn't know who'd they play till now, but they got some rest.

Heat in 6, but its possible. Without Bosh, its possible.

I still see OKC/Miami, OKC in 6.

Going to be a fun series, wish Avery Bradley was playing though :(

The Celtics dumped all over the heat all season.....
KG can dominate Inside.
Pierce and Bass will put up plenty of points.
Rondo will just chill and keep getting triple doubles.
Man I wish we had Jeff Green and Avery Bradley for this series....but it is what it is.
If anybody in the East can beat Miami...its Boston.
Not that whoever comes out of the East really matters...whoever wins the west is probably going to win the Finals in 5 games.

thunder in 6 is my prediciton. i think boston can beat mia, pierce has to play big, and drop at least 25 this series to contend with heat, kg as well. rondo needs to guard chalmers and shut him down. i think boston in 6 or 7 over heat. okc is going to be the champs. watch.

The Big 3 in Boston got one championship in their tenure and their window is on life support...

Miami's just started last year... at least give them an equal time run at it before you open your mouth.

Boston will have a chance only if they win game 1 in Miami but it's gonna be real tough. They can't turn the ball over like they did last night especially Rajon Rondo.

Yeah the Celtics need to steal 1 in Miami to have a chance, because I think its possible they can win both in Boston (Possible, but I wont bet $$ on it)

05-27-2012, 11:18 AM
Discussion? What for, the Heat are going to roll easy. The series is already 1-0 unless you think a banged up Celtics team that has a single off day to travel can actually steal game 1 against a rested James and Wade. Not happening so now the Celtics have to win 4 of 6 games. That would be a tough task if the Celtics were the better team but they are not.

Going to be ugly for the Celtics, easy for the Heat. 5 game series as Heat get bored in game 3 or 4 and proceed to finish the crushing after that.

This seems to be the overall sentiment for every Series so far in this years Playoffs, and where are the Celtics in the Conference Finals :)! Not bad for an 'Old Lethargic Team' ;)
Say what you want but this is a Team that's been there before, yes it's a long-shot (let's hope Ray has a ton of those left) but we won't know that till the Games are played :D

Heat in 5. RayRay isnt 100% and now will be forced to play more minutes with the loss of Avery Bradley, which is a huge loss in both the offensive and defensive end. Anthony can defend KG after taking on both Hibbert and David West. Rondo will be the only one Im worried about. Pierce is on and off now. Bass could put up some points but nothing to worry about, while Pietrus just straight up sucks. With or without the T-Rex WE GOT THIS!

IamRalpho
05-27-2012, 11:33 AM
Joel Anthony will not contain KG, he might disrupt him but KG is a different animal than Hibbert and West who are primarily post players, KG does that and is a jump shooter now. No way Anthony can keep up with him.

Only 3 facets of this series the Celtics win out in....PG, C, and coaching. Thats it.

the only reason i think the celtics can make it a series (without bosh) is that the heat don't really give them the size problems that other teams would...all the celts have to do, who mind you are a well above average defensive team, is shut down 2 guys...granted they are the 2 best players arguably in the nba, but they have guys who can check them...if it were a dominant big man we'd have another story...but pierce will check lebron and im sure rondo will get some time checking wade if allen can't handle it (although im not sure how doc will handle it..) ...also the celts have one major thing that the heat haven't proven to be able to have the personnel to contain..and that is rondo. a PG who can penetrate and score, and kick to guys like KG *who i dislike more than lebron or wade or any of them, so don't tell me im being biased lol* who have been there before making those shots...The other thing that would worry me as a celtics fan would be the lack of depth, but miami's depth is hardly any better, so really that shouldn't make much of a difference either...it really all depends on if bosh can get back for the series...i HONESTLY think that if bosh can't get back the celtics will surprise the heat and at least make it a 6 or 7 gamer if not take it...i mean those guys are almost at the end of the line, and you know their desire to win will be incredibly high...if the heat had size or a bench they'd have no shot...but they dont...

lol i never called them arrogant..but i guess i did word that wrong, what i meant to say is they will surprise all the people picking miami...no doubt the heat aren't over looking them or thinking they'll roll over them...now how about some basketball talk, not dwelling on the fact that i said they'll surprise the heat, because i honestly meant they'll surprise all the people picking the heat...what are you're thoughts on how the basketball will play out?

There is something to be said for a team that is on its last run. No tommorrow. Rondo will play outside of his mind. KG will be a force. If Ray finds his stroke and Pierce steps up (like he does) I can see the Celts making it happen.

The Heat have the exact recipe to beat the Celtics. Just throw Rondo to the floor as hard as one possibly can and dont get penalized for it. Thats how they did it last year :)!

Yeah, its that whole 'tough guy hiding behind a computer screen thing' that lets people say whatever they want, though I know first hand from going to many a Seminole game the type of classless people that would embrace this ideology.

In regards to injury, the players are the ones who wanted to be selfish and lockout (I realize its the owners who do the locking, but it is still on the players I believe) thus bringing on this horrible condensed season. Between the shortened season and DRose/Bosh/etc injuries, this year's title should probably have some sort of asterisk anyway (unless the Spurs sweep the whole thing, which is remotely possible). Having said that, if Bosh doesn't play, I think Celtics could win in 6.

i too, from living in SC for a large part of my life, have seen the many faces of certain ACC / SEC football fans lol...

but yeah you're right about the season, it was a shame, the tourny is just watered down this year. although i feel like this spurs team would win regardless, unless there was a team with a dominant center, like dwight, although the rest of that orlando team wouldnt be near good enough...so i really think the spurs could have won in a regular year anyways...this team is REALLY good. although they have no dominant center they have about everything else that would qualify them as a great team. i mean they have so many people its crazy. i honestly (and ive been saying this for weeks and weeks lol) think the thunder will be lucky to take 1 or 2 and that whoever comes out of the east will get stomped...i think the celtics have the starting line up and those guys have the experience and will to maybe win a couple also but the spurs have way too much depth especially now that bradley is down...so although i do think the celtics will win this series i doubt the finals will be much of one unfortunately, although since the C's are trying to make one more run at it, they have a few guys who might take exception to that statement and show up big in the finals...its not like miami where they have 2 guys who could potentially go off..the celtics have FOUR which could potentially win them a few games agianst the spurs, especially because they will be going ALL OUT knowing they might not have another shot. but in the end i think the spurs will just overwhelm them and anyone they'll play .... now this is also assuming bosh isnt playing or near 100%, if bosh is there i think this series goes 6 or 7 and is more of a toss up, but without bosh KG is liable to completely destroy the heat....

haha also true - there are many ridiculous fans, also many respectable ones...but you gotta admit there are a LOT of ridiculous acc/sec football fans lol...i love listening to sports talk radio, and when i was living in SC that was always good for a laugh...i mean they are just REALLY into their clemson / insert another SEC ACC school here ... sometimes that leads to ridiculousness and outlandishness lol...but yes if theres one thing we've learned from BO forums its that if one fan of a team thinks a certain way, all fans think that way lol... that one ain't making you guys look good tho haha...but i know you are a respectable dude and i know other FSU fans that are too so i'll let it slide hah

I want to see both teams at full strength (hopefully Bosh comes back) and I want to see a good series. I don't want anyone to blame injuries on why the team lost. I am a big heat fan and this series will be tough. Celtics are experienced and have played the Heat tough all season.

It's 46-46. A Joel Anthony shot was rightfully taken away because his finger tips were still on the ball as the shot clock went off.

Ray Allen's missed free throws are legit. Just shows how much pain he must be in.

It has broken my heart to watch Ray Allen play since he came back from the injury....he has became more of a liability than an asset.

With a Beat up Ray Allen,Avery Bradley auto for the playoffs, and Jeff Green not even making an appearance this year....its going to be a lot to overcome to take this series.
This might sound silly, but they key for the Celtics to win lies with BRANDON BASS playing to his full potential.

We know Rondo is going to distribute the ball well...but if nobody hits their shots..it dosent matter how many times he dishes out dimes.
We know KG is playing with intensity and at times looks like his old self.
We know Paul Pierce has the ability to put a team on his back and score points in droves,
but if Ray Allen is going to stay in his slump...we need to get scoring from somebody else...and that somebody is Brandon Bass.

Garnett has looked excellent... It is actually quite amazing. After his injury most thought he was done, but he is playing just as good if not better than any other big man this season.

The way he and Rondo are playing, if only the rest of the team were healthy..

The Celtics would be legit contenders for the title. If it wasn't for injuries this team probably would have 1, if not 2 more championships.

pac213up

Poor defensive rotations all night from the Celtics. Got hammered in the paint and gave up way too many easy shots. Need to move the ball more on offense. Miami's defense was/is attacking so an extra pass makes all the difference in the world.

Im not saying those three can replace the talent garnett, allen, and pierce possesses...at this point no, but in the future who knows. At least I like how the franchise acquired these young players, who have already shown potential, as replacements to the aging vets. Some franchise dont even think ahead like that and so the team suffers a big drop off being competitive, as soon as the franchise player(s) exit.

Bradley has bigger upside than a solid role player. Celtics also have 2 first round picks this year and significant cap flexibility going forward. Cap space is key, not just because of Free Agents, but because it opens up more trade opportunities.

See the Dallas Mavericks 2011.

One legitimate superstar, with several other good players, and you can win a title.

The Bulls contend now as well and were one of the favorites before injury, and they also only have one superstar.

There is a difference between a star player and a superstar player. Danny Granger is a star player. But the Pacers will never contend for a title without a superstar.

i would argue kidd is more then a good player, marion in his own right and especially at one time was more then just a good player.

then with that they had several other good players.

bulls haven't really contended with their current set up.

all four teams this year have multiple stars.

Green whould have been a 6th man or even starter with Allen to the bench, he MIGHT add 20 points a game on a bad team, but on the Celtics with KG/Rondo/Pierce next year (Just guessing) he is a 12-18 point scorer, kinda like what Bradley was this year off the bench.

Which would have been amazing considering we had no one off the bench until Bradley stepped up

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith Suggests NBA Wanted Technical Fouls Called On Celtics CBS Boston (http://boston.cbslocal.com/2012/05/29/espns-stephen-a-smith-suggests-nba-wanted-technical-fouls-called-on-celtics/)

The calls did not change the outcome of the game in any way BUT they were suspicious. Going to be interesting next game how the officials deal with the level of physical play. No doubt the Celtics are going to protect the paint a little more old school on Wednesday.

Exactly. Heat missed 2 of the FT's they were given.

Celtics had one good quarter of offense and when the Heat kicked it into overdrive,Boston had no answer

If Miami continues to get stats like last night from Battier it might not matter what Boston does

Those free throws didnt cost the Celtics the game, but it changes the way you play. You get tech's for stupid stuff, now you back off and play differently. Especially when "Come on Ed" gets you T'd up, or when you are boxed out OUT of bounds and you push him to get off, and you get T'd.

Who knows if thats the reason the Celtics just collapsed in the 2nd half but it didnt help that they got 4 Techs for no reason, they were too tight and didnt play their game.

Then Lebron taunted KG and it was cool :/

The stat that stuck out the most to me was the Heat were 21-27 in the paint. Can't let the happen if you are the Celtics. I expect Wade and Lebron to end up on the floor a couple of times on Wednesday.

Agreed. Just a question of if the refs swallow their whistles and look the other way or if they have their orders from Stern already

Everyone knows that KG talks more trash than most. I think that LeBron laughing was better than talking trash back... only thing better would have been saying "score board".

If you can't take it, don't dish it out.

And the T on Garnett was called for. As soon as the ball went though the net, he slapped the ball into the stands. If the Celts were warned about doing it, it was an obvious delay of game.

poor kg he seems so sad about lebron showing him up...

does he think he is going to gain fans by whining to media about the heat 'showing off' as they blew them off the court. shut your mouth kg and move on (especially when you have the rap sheet he has). get ready to play game 2.

KG didn't seem sad about it. He actually didn't say anything bad about LeBron doing it. He actually said that he had the right to do that because they were playing so well. He knows how it goes, he likes to talk himself. That's part of the game.

here's one gem from the great KG

Kevin Garnett harshly tells off Laker ball boy - CBSSports.com (http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/27323478)

and also the reason duncan supposedly hates Garnett is that duncan mother died when he was like 14 due to cancer and in 1999 the spurs were playing timberwolves on mother's day and before duncan shot a ft garnett walked up and said "Happy Mother's Day motherf*****".

you can call him a great basketball player and he is but the list of crap that he has done shows the piece of trash he really is.

i mean if you get 23 techs called against the other team in ...12 PLAYOFF games, i dont care who it is, heat, knicks, whoever, then you better be getting BEAT up...i mean its the PLAYOFFS. let them frieken play....honestly it probably wouldn't matter much in the outcome of their games so far, but it is really annoying...

Boston fans should be happy nobody got double Ts and ejected, like what happened in the G1 last year.
Maybe Stern will void some of these 23 like they didnt change the game.

Tony Parker is the one orchestrating this team, he is the head of the monster, the driver of the car. When you cut the monsters head, the rest falls apart.

That is just how I see it... Nobody in the playoffs has been able to shut down Parker. But during the regular season, when he struggled the Spurs struggled.

Tony Parker is the PG, if he is not orchestrating the team then you have a problem.
It's not true that no one was able to shut down Parker. It did happen a few times, including the whole first half of SASvOKC Game 1. But, that is where Manu steps up! You can adjust your team to switch to Manu, but by the time they settle, Pop will switch back to Parker!
The only reason the team struggled when Parker did was because Manu was injured for almost half the season and even when he did return, it wasn't in the same capacity. They were using Neal as the backup PG and he isn't suited there.

Look at the teams they played against to get there. They had trouble with both...

People are saying the same about the Spurs. It is more true about the Spurs than Celtics, but both teams came up against some good teams on the day.
IMO the Celtics have well exceeded expectations. I don't think anyone expected them to make the ECF without Ray and with suspensions. KG has been nuts!

if the heat and spurs make it to the finals, its going to be a better series then alot of people are saying. i think people forget miami is one of the best defensive teams. lebron and wade wont be able to do it on their own, bosh needs to be healthy/productive and the bench and roll players have to step up, but thats nothing new for winning a title. ive seen people posting saying this is a watered down season and there is going to be an asterick next to the winning team, but ive watched basketball for several years, and i think this has been an excellent season with a lot of hard fought games. there shouldnt be any lack of respect to whoever wins the title.

Nah i actually did forget leonard tho....All I'm saying is all of those guys can fill it up. Which is why they haven't lost in 20 tries. You could start naming heat players who do that and you stop after 3 guys and one of them is hurt. What's the next best scoring option after wade and Lebron??? Chalmers and battier? See this is the difference between the two teams. Its no surprise the spurs don't lose, they have the guys (like I named) who can step up if the other team can take tp Manu or Timmy out of the game...the heat hardly have that. They NEED Lebron and wade to go off to have a chance.

lets see in the whole season:

Leonard (one game w/20 +)
Diaw (two games w/20+)
Green (four games w/20+)
Jackson (three games w/20+)
Neal (one game w/20+)
Splitter (two games w/ 20 +)

thats hardly filling it up. I'm not saying that that Heat have a better supporting cast because they don't. But to act like the spurs have multiple scoreres to step in if manu, parker and duncan are struggling is wrong. For the spurs to win the championship they are going to consistently need manu, parker and duncan to play well. If a team is able to really stop two of them they could be in trouble.

knicks_please
05-30-2012, 03:26 PM
those guys don't need to do that honestly...but they all average around 10 points a game which is all they need...maybe fill it up was a bad choice of terms, but they can definitely score, and can get 10-15 points any given night, and will get around 10 which the heat don't have guys that can do...they have enough guys that can score 10 points each and it'll add up to 120...i dont think they'll need all three to play well ever game...unlike the heat where they need both lebron and wade to dominate in order to win...we already saw in the first game of this series how manu could carry the load when timmy and tp werent at their best...if either one of the heat aren't at their best, they got no chance...thats all im sayin.

So 2 points being proven so far:

1- KP was saying the other day that Lebron needs Wade to 'show up'. Implying that Lebron can be brilliant, but can't win games on his own! Wade with 2pts so far is proving that one!

2- Rondo is not the best or even top 3 PG's this year. BUT, if he develops his offense game and scores more and more aggressively, he certainly can be! So far he is doing that tonight and is showing potential to be top 3 if he makes a habit of it!

I have never like the Celtics, but I dislike Lebron more than I dislike the Celtics, so I am hoping this is an away game steal today! Plus if there has to be an east team win a ring, I would rather KG get another before he retires!
