It's fine to give them your username and password right?

Yes... you have to and it is safe.

It says my password may not be strong enough and some snipes may fail. Is that just a precautionary disclaimer or a serious notification?

You might have to change your password on eBay as I think eBay changed its password requirement and yours is no longer strong enough that's why you got that message from gixen.

I have never seen that notification, but my password is over 8 characters with number and letters mixed in (it makes no sense and looks like someone slamming on a keyboard).

I get the same message and none of my snipes have failed. I think it is just some coding on gixen to check the strength of your password. It seems like all sites try to get you to use an upper case letter, lower case letter, and a number.

Bidding in the last few seconds of an auction to "snipe" it away from someone else. There are services where you can set your max bid and it will automatically make that bid in the last 5 seconds of the auction (in the case of Gixen).

You can also check into goofbay.com, but I prefer to snipe manually when possible. As far as Ebay goes, there is nothing better than successfully winning an item at a good price with a 1 second manual snipe.

Actually, I prefer just winning the item by any means necessary... how I got there doesn't matter.
