Who do you guys, think will get the 1st 3 picks? I think, it would be #1. Charlotte #2 Cavs #2 Wizards. Feel free, to discuss, who they would also take with those picks! :D :flex: :)!

As a Bobcats fan lol I can assure you we wont be getting the #1 pick. Its only happened like twice out of the past 10 years that the worst team got the first pick. I'll say the top 3 will be
1. Washington
2.Cleveland
3.Charlotte-I wont be surprised if we fall to #4, which is the lowest we can go

I agree, those teams will be in the top 3, but Charlotte needs a lot of help, and not just the #1 pick

when you really look at it, its honestly not too surprising they didnt get the #1 like so many of the worst teams dont...its basically like 25% for them or 75% for the field to get it...and the #2 team gets almost as many 4 digit combinations as the #1 seed...its not set in stone by any means the 1st team will get it...actually against the field its unlikely...they have the BEST chance but its still very much up for grabs

ivbaseball06
05-30-2012, 07:42 PM
I really hope the Cavs get a big man like Thomas Robinson or Andre Drummond. Good point guard and a good big man are the first pieces to a good team if you ask me. Just look at Minnesota before Rubio got hurt.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm.......there is a simple solution. Do the ping pong ball selection process on live TV, not behind closed doors. There will always be tin foil hat wearing coo coo clocks, but most people would stop believing that the lottery is rigged...including me.

That is exactly how I feel. It makes the process very sketchy when you don't do the actually lottery drawing live where everyone can see it. If it isn't rigged then there should be nothing to hide.

People realize that ESPN likes this right? That everyone talks about conspiracy theories...

There is a reason they choose not to televise the actual drawing. It creates a buzz.

NBA can't do anything about it. ESPN owns the rights to broadcast the Lottery.

The Point Forward Posts An NBA draft lottery conspiracy? It didn’t seem that way (http://nba-point-forward.si.com/2012/05/31/an-nba-draft-lottery-conspiracy-it-didnt-seem-that-way/?sct=nba_t11_a1)

its honestly a little crazy HOW many people think its rigged...i hope for their sake people dont actually think this way.
but in essence how it works is each team gets a certain combination of 4 digits...the #1 seeded team gets 250 out of the 1000 that they divy up between the lottery teams. that is the MOST out of anyone but still only 1/4 of the combinations, so it is technically UNLIKELY that they will get that pick. the second team has 199...here is the whole breakdown -
250 combinations, 25.0% chance of receiving the #1 pick
199 combinations, 19.9% chance
156 combinations, 15.6% chance
119 combinations, 11.9% chance
88 combinations, 8.8% chance
63 combinations, 6.3% chance
43 combinations, 4.3% chance
28 combinations, 2.8% chance
17 combinations, 1.7% chance
11 combinations, 1.1% chance
8 combinations, 0.8% chance
7 combinations, 0.7% chance
6 combinations, 0.6% chance
5 combinations, 0.5% chance

so really when you look at it , the 1-3 seeds aren't that far apart in the chance they have of getting it....either way you just have to get lucky, which is why so many low seeds have won it...you could have 900 of the combinations all you need is the wrong one to come up and you wont win it... come on people you really don't think its a giant conspiracy do ya?

Was so happy when I heard that the Hornets got the first pick. Thought for sure the Hornets were headed into a long rebuilding mode, but this changes everything. Monty's finally going to have an inside defensive presence and a true scorer to work with this year. Plus they have another top 10 pick to add even more depth. Vasquez and Ayon looked amazing last year and the Hornets can finally move on from Kaman and Bellinelli. Everything looking up from here. Guess my bank account is going to be drained by the time next season comes..

Why should it be? Do they show the American Idol employees counting all of the votes on TV? Do they show the coin flips at the end of each NBA season that help figure out ties based on records? Some things are better off not being shown. Plus, with it not being shown they can drag it out for 30 mins to an hour on TV. If all they did was show the drawing then it would be 5-10 mins max.

I never said they weren't rebuilding, I said they're not headed towards a lengthy rebuilding period with multiple losing seasons

Right now, they stand a good shot at landing a decent playoff spot. Jack, Gordon, Ariza, Davis, and Okafor with very good bench depth and great prospects, if everything pans out they're only a couple of years away from being a true contender..

is it based on anything? not starting anything just wondering why even after all the accounts of people who were THERE say its not, that people would still think it is? id just like one actual opinion on WHY it was rigged, not just people saying because the league owned the team with the 2nd worst record they must have rigged it...i mean that article lays it out perfectly..

I agree. That 10th pick could land them a nice PG that could eventually turn into their starting PG, like a Lillard or Marshall. Or it could land them a big man to play next to Davis, like a Henson, Zeller, Sullinger, or Leonard. Or you could get a guy like Austin Rivers with the pick. How awesome would it be to bring a scoring threat like Rivers off the bench. Give him a Harden/Ginobili type role to work himself into. I think things are really looking great for the Hornets. Monty Williams is one of the best young coaches in the league and gets his guys to play tough, hard-nosed defense. I predict they'll be a playoff team next season as crazy as it sounds.

Don't let you fancy facts get in the way of the tin foil hat wearers.

its honestly a little crazy HOW many people think its rigged...i hope for their sake people dont actually think this way.
but in essence how it works is each team gets a certain combination of 4 digits...the #1 seeded team gets 250 out of the 1000 that they divy up between the lottery teams. that is the MOST out of anyone but still only 1/4 of the combinations, so it is technically UNLIKELY that they will get that pick. the second team has 199...here is the whole breakdown -
250 combinations, 25.0% chance of receiving the #1 pick
199 combinations, 19.9% chance
156 combinations, 15.6% chance
119 combinations, 11.9% chance
88 combinations, 8.8% chance
63 combinations, 6.3% chance
43 combinations, 4.3% chance
28 combinations, 2.8% chance
17 combinations, 1.7% chance
11 combinations, 1.1% chance
8 combinations, 0.8% chance
7 combinations, 0.7% chance
6 combinations, 0.6% chance
5 combinations, 0.5% chance

so really when you look at it , the 1-3 seeds aren't that far apart in the chance they have of getting it....either way you just have to get lucky, which is why so many low seeds have won it...you could have 900 of the combinations all you need is the wrong one to come up and you wont win it... come on people you really don't think its a giant conspiracy do ya?

I've seen Anythony Davis wear many snapback hats before. Heck, I wear a Lakers snapback every now and then but I'm not a Lakers fan....at all.

I have around 50 snapbacks and I'm sure he does too.

For the record, the one team's snapback hat I would never wear is the Heat :D

is it based on anything? not starting anything just wondering why even after all the accounts of people who were THERE say its not, that people would still think it is? id just like one actual opinion on WHY it was rigged, not just people saying because the league owned the team with the 2nd worst record they must have rigged it...i mean that article lays it out perfectly..

I think, that it is "rigged" because of the new owner ship, Chris Paul leaving NO, for LAC, when it should have been LAL, but Stern stopped that trade, and because the ping pong balls, are keep away from everyone. If they made it available to the public, then I would not believe it is rigged. Again, this is just my opinion.

i respect that opinion and while it does look fishy, they do have a rep of each team in the room...by that logic, the hornets *second most likely team to win the pick* couldn't have won it without it being rigged? also in that article the ping pong balls were said to be given to the hornets owner afterwards...would they just give away the rigged ping pong balls?
