Well I was stoked about the whole Fathers Day Promo.
1. My wife knew exactly what I wanted for father's day, I decided to have a collection myself not just for Jax :)! (no more clothes!!)
2. I got to pick out my own gift
3. I get extra cool cards.
what really happened.
1. My wife knew exactly what I wanted for father's day (no more clothes!) :flex:
2. I got to pick out my own gift ( a $100 dollar box of 2011 football I can get for less now.)
3. I get extra cool cards. (I got 3 packs for my purchase and got base cards and no real inserts or numbered cards)
Okay I can't expect to get an Andrew Luck 1/1 jersey auto but no numbered cards in any of the packs. They should at least come with a numbered card per pack. :(
at least the black friday promo was current stuff out I had to spend money on last years stuff that doesn't have any of my new and shiny COLTS players.
I did at least get a Demarco Murray pull out auto in the box and the shop owner threw in a bunch of supplies for free, so the box was only 85 dollars if you count the $15 of supplies I got for free.
Ohhhh well point to remember hit the Black Friday promo stay away from the fathers day promo.

I went to my LCS and he had pics of a AP Pro Bowl jumbo patch and an RG3 logo patch auto that someone snagged on Thursday. All he had left that I could get to participate was a $145 box of Contenders or $20 packs of Totally Certified. You can get both of those for way less than that so I passed. I did order a box od Prime Sigs off the Panini site for $60, which is still a bad deal for a poor product but it netted me 4 FD packs. Hopefully I can get something out of those.

He collects Colts, Patrick Peterson, Ap and Megatron. to say the least colts are easy to get expecially lately not in 2012. His other favorite players have been harder for me to get for him LOL.

4 out of $60 is a better deal than I got for FD packs. using that logic I should have gotten 7 packs. well Guess that is what I get for going on vacation during fathers day promo time. 1200 miles away form home LOL.

I feel your pain I got killed with 12 packs of this crap.. 1 box of contenders baseball and totally certified football.. Over $250 spent and maybe maybe $75 back.. typical shitty panini products.

as a collector I don't care what I get when I bust a box cause it is the thrill akin to gambling in my opinion except I actually get to keep something in the end. but the way it was hyped was like " MAN THIS STUFF IS AMAZING" so I bought it hook line and sinker.
and then I found out that the LCS "HAD!!!!!" to buy a bunch of last years stuff just to get the promo packs... Man PANINI MESSED THIS UP BIG TIME!!!
And I was actually a big Panini supporter cause it was reasonably priced stuff and cool for my son. But they may just have gotten me to say no go on their stuff now.

Since the BF promo was a hit, you had to figure they were gonna suck people in with a FD promo and it would delivery a LOT less. They have to figure out a way to get people to buy their product.

yeah I read about the great BF stuff and thought it would be the same. we are really new to mid to high end collecting (went the NFL experience at the Super Bowl). Before then it was cheap dollar store stuff but he love football and collecting.
Ohhh well live and learn.

Ohhh not complaining about the free stuff. more the overhyped part of the promo. I was disappointed not complaining. I would have rather have spent my money on 2012 football without FD cards.
My mistake not complaining just disappointed.

If every pack comes with a numbered card, doesn't it defeat the purpose because then they'll be numbered to 1000 each and worthless?

I found the FD packs much better than the BF packs. Probably we're about the same just alot better luck this time. Tempted to get some more from Panini direct but will probably just count my blessings and hold tight.

so having unnumbered cards are more valuable than high numbered?

I did well with my FD packs. The FD packs were way better than my hit boxes combined except for the Past & Present box, which was a hot box-five autos and no jersey card. It's the luck of the draw, I got lucky.

Are you really complaing about Bonus Packs?
Furthermore, why the hell does anyone expect a box of cards to have an ROI?

Are you really complaing about Bonus Packs?
Furthermore, why the hell does anyone expect a box of cards to have an ROI?
Because if it doesn't have an ROI of any sort then it would be gambling and should be regulated by the government as such. The ROI doesn't have to be positive but I would like to see someone crack down on Panini, Topps, et al and mandate that their products have a minimum secondary market ROI of 30 percent at the time of pack out. Obviously, this could not be regulated long term.
This probably isn't possible (but I can dream can't I) but as it stands they get away with way too much sh!t. Maybe the NFL and NFLPA could put a cap on how many "hits" per case/box can be non-premiere rookies? I think it's obvious at this point that excessive rookie bullsh!t content has ruined the post-release value of most products. For every Victor Cruz there are 10 late round picks who are trying out for Arena League teams by their 3rd season. It's to the point where products such as Topps Chrome 2011 and Supreme 2010 which actually DO deliver value and are INTENDED to be low-mid end products become nearly high end when the price doubles to $120 for a single hit box.
Manufacturers introduce the possibility of cards on the sell sheets that are sometimes not produced or held back for "QC" purposes. Not to mention that they've basically been running a softcore gambling operation on a huge scale for years and avoided any sort of regulation.
Look at the value of 2011 Panini products post release and compare to 2011 Topps. Topps released ONE bad product all year while Panini released ONE good product. Panini can slap their ugly @$$ red and yellow logo all over free promotional Father's Day, Columbus Day, Flag Day, or Arbor Day cards all they want and it still won't make a box of Panini worth the market price even AFTER it's fallen from MSRP post-release. It's getting to the point where I'm going to have to buy Topps pre-sell.

No I am disappointed that the hype that Panini built into the promotion. What was delivered fell way short of what was hyped. If I told you Hey buy this product you can get for 30% cheaper elswhere for full price and I'll give you these amazing unbelievable extra packs for free and you believed me and then got score base cards how would that make you feel. DISAPPOINTED.
Not only was this over hyped in my opinion but Panini forced the LCS owners to buy a bunch of last years product at full price to get these cards. next month are you going to buy 2011 Prestige box at full price or the the 2012 box?
I don't want a ROI for any cards. I am a COLLECTOR not an investor. I invest in bonds, stocks, and other such vehicles.
Let's be honest if you get 50% return on average from a box you are doing good.

Stopped reading there. How could they know how much their cards are worth on the secondary market if they are packing them out for the first time? Doesn't make sense, especially with the price of cards changing every day (like on ebay).
And this IS gambling. You are spending a lot of money with the CHANCE to hit something big. The odds are slim to hit the best cards because there are very few of them. If there were a guarantee of opening cards worth x amount, the box price would be jacked up to take that into account.

Should have sold those packs, easy $50 for four packs of cards on Ebay. Let the other people bust them and save your money. Been saying this on here for the past several weeks before this stupid promotion yet dont see many listened to me. Sad but you could have had that box for $50 after selling those packs. That's the lesson you should be learning about this imo not to stay away from the promotion

Get over it dude, if you were a true collector then anything you would have gotten would've been sufficient. The fact that you didn't get some big, monetary hit proves that you're looking for resale value. And that makes you more than "just a collector".
