my friend has a 66/67 bobby orr rookie card from topps, he was offered 6,000 for it, but he also has to toss in a tim horton topps card from the same year and a stan mikita, the cards have been out of the pack only once since then and he has them in a safety deposit box. should he get the orr graded or just sell it, i have seen a few on the bay at like 6-12 grand. any help is greatly appreciated

If its in good shape and centering is good, I'd have it graded. One proves authenticity (if its in question) and secondly if its a high grade, will substantially increase the value.

Depends on how bad he needs the money. If he needs the funds, take the money and run, if not, get it graded.
