I really don't pay too much attention during the season to anyone besides the Tigers as the season is just too long for me to keep up with everyone the whole time.

But I was just wondering who everyone thinks will win it this year, or really what I'm wondering is will it be Verlander again as that's all I care about, haha

Gotta think that Jered Weaver is in that conversation.

At this point, one would have to think it's a real tight race between Hochevar and Blackburn.

I am going with Price - 14 W, 2.57 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 130 K

If the season ended today it would be between Verlander, Weaver and Price. Verlander would probably squeak it out.

I'd give it to Verlander right now if the season ended today.

In the race for me: Chris Sale, King Felix, Jake Peavy, and a few others.

Verlander has to lose some credibility after getting knocked around by the shithole team in Cleveland.

Rodney deserves some consideration in this race as well. He has been flat out outstanding this season for the Rays.

I think it is between Price and Weaver right now, with Verlander and Sale right behind them.

Rodney will get some votes. He has a great chance to be in the top 10, but closers have to be lights out all year with a weak SP year to get serious consideration.

Why didnt Valverde get some votes last year then :(

Weaver, downright nasty stuff - was on the 15 day DL, came off, then pitched as if he never got injured

Price and Verlander 2,3 for me - Sale 4

There is nothing funny about a .79 ERA, .74 WHIP, only one blown save in 30 chances. Not to mention he averages a K/inning.

Valverde wasn't even close last season. He had a 2.24 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and less than a K/inning. He didn't blow any saves, yes, and had a higher total, but by winning the Cy Young a couple years ago, Felix Hernandez proved you don't have to have the most prolific win totals.

It's fair to say you don't think Rodney is a candidate, but by saying its laughable for him to be considered is not fair to the season he's had.

Pretty sure if Weaver hadn't gone on the DL, he would be the first 15 game winning pitcher already and clear leader for AL Cy Young- too close to call right now though

but 46 for 46 is better than 29 for 30

I know he is not CY worthy, but for someone that didn't even start the season on the Twins roster, he has been very impressive.

Yeah he has been impressive. I think that the twins should try to trade him.

He didn't get knocked around by Cleveland, I watched that game, he had 2 bad pitches, that's it, they started off that inning with back to back homers on the first two pitches of the inning. It sucks, yes, but I wouldn't call that getting knocked around as he was pretty dominate all game besides that inning

Nine hits, five earned = Getting knocked around by Cleveland, especially when this same team can't hit Brian Duensing.

yes, in that inning he did

but to generally say he got knocked around by the Indians, and that is why he lost credibility is just wrong, one bad inning by a guy like Verlander doesn't hurt his credibility at all

Haha, no worries; I understand. Verlander has been pretty damn good again this year so when the Indians finally had some success against him, I had to point that out.
