This stuff is awful if you don't hit a big name auto.

Like usual, the most predictable and boring release of the year.

How can something that has been out for a week be called a "sleeper"? Why anybody would gamble on a traditionally terrible product at pre sell is beyond me.

Harper + Trout + Under-ordered = win
I ordered two products on pre-sale this year:
2012 Tier one and 2012 Bowman Platinum.
If people are down a product, generally it comes through simply because it was terribly under-ordered (See: Gypsy Queen).

nah if they are saying it sucks its because they case or box didnt have a trout ,harper or darvish auto in.
i guess they forget that there is more to card collecting than making a quick buck.
i collect jon lester, do i get mad when there isnt a auto or gu of him in a set. nope i still buy boxes because i love the hobby and the game

It was great in 2010 so everyone over ordered in 2011 and they put autos number to 13k in the product.
This year it was under ordered and so it seems loaded.
Mark my words - next year it will be over ordered again and resemble 2011.

Definitely agree with the last sentence.

Bingo, and also why Museum Collection and Tier 1 were big this year as well, they stunk it up last year... Museum Collection was pretty much Marquee last year.

I have felt tht way for a few years now. The blasters are a great value and they have a good ratio of hits. The on-card autos always look great. There is a good mix of vets RC and prospects. I feel that as far as an overall product line that Plat. is one of the best for any sport. I would invest in it early on if the resale were always like this year. I really like that they upgraded the surface and added die-cuts.

I have done one box this year. Love the look of everything from the hits too the base. As far as value my lcs always has stuff at a great price. The Arena in Salina Kansas if anyone is in the area. The shop owner Tod is a great guy... very fun to be around + always has good wax at great prices.
Anyway my opinion after one box is the cards look great. I got lucky and will make a bit off the box but even if it was a skunker platinum is asteticly pleasing as could be.

Eric Moulds syndrome: good every other year. This was the good year.

This was one of the few products I didn't buy any of this year partly because I was underwhelmed by it this year, was scared off from what I heard about last year, and mainly because my supplier which has awesome prices didn't have a real competitive price. I've seen some of the "awesome" case breaks and I can't say I'm terribly impressed. I went out and got 5 blasters since I wasn't even planning on getting a box let alone a case and it did work out pretty good for me. 3 autos including a Arenado /199 jumbo auto relic. That will help pay for 3 of the blasters or so alone but its unbelievable how cheap Maples, Norris, Jacobs, etc. autos are. Nearly worthless. I picked up a gold for under 10 bucks. Even guys like Bundy have really cheap autos so I don't see a ton of value. Also the Bowman Blacks are dirt cheap and have condition problems.
I actually think the product looks alot better this year although the card stock could be better as they are really condition sensitive. Sometimes it is confusing to try to discern which parallel etc you have. I think its better than many thought but I think some of the "apologists" are overrating the value a bit. I would say it is much better retail wise than other products this year.
I might end up picking up a hobby box at the National to pick up those bonus cards from Topps.

Pulled a Brett Lawrie relic auto and could not have been more disappointed with his signature. Not only was it on a sticker but it looked nothing like his bowman chrome auto. I also pulled a Matt Moore gold refractor auto. Yes , the hits in this product are nice, but the quality of the relic was not there. The resale on this product is not there also from what I've seen. Iam mixed with this one, I would give it c plus b minus

I've opened five boxes, and i've been severely disappointed. The on-card autos are nice looking, but the designs are too convoluted and distracting with each card trying too hard to compete for your attention- kind of like old school stadium club, lol.

I like the cards and the product, but jury is out as to whether I will break even, the market is so saturated right now. Although Harper Base cards are going for the $5-$6 range.
