I'm starting to think the Marlins have no idea what baseball is.

Haha, there gm just likes making trades, he gets a kick out of trading there good players for nothing

They've made some decent trades (Mujica for Cox, Sanchez/Infante for Turner/Brantly), but I don't really get this one.
Nice move by the Pirates, especially after landing Snider.

They do get the 33rd pick in the draft. And Gaby Sanchez was hitting .202 this year...

Obviously they did get the pick too, which is valued at a million and a half, I just don't understand the cohesiveness of the moves the Marlins are making. Just seems they're throwing at a dartboard.

How many picks have the Marlins acquired? I've lost track!

Meh. I wish the Pirates would actually really try and grab a real hitter for the push - not Gaby Sanchez and Snider.

Agreed...very disappointing deadline this year. They should have gotten Pence....the Giants stole him.

Pence or a guy like Choo would have been good too. Something like that.

they do have some protection in their line-up... i would expect sanchez's numbers to increase quite a bit.
not too sure about snider

Sanchez has been awful this year and is in triple A and Hernandez was a big prospect at one point with some upside.
Don't see how this is a bad trade for MIA. I think they've had a great deadline (except for the Hanley trade, they should've gotten more)

Unless Jones breaks a leg he will be the 5 at bats a week PH.

I think the Pirates are doing it right. With that kind of budget, they can't trade away the farm. They have to build (It's been re-building for years now). Snider is a guy that they hope will live up to his potential with this change of scenery. This Sanchez deal is neither good nor bad. It won't make a big difference to either team really.

I like the pickup of Sanchez. I expect him to be used as a bench bat to PH a few times a week and maybe get a spot start or 2. The bench has been a weak spot all year long and he should help.
