I rec'd my direct dealer info for the 1972 series cards that ITG is going to be producing in a few months. Anybody cracking this stuff? Would it be a good idea for a group break?

I got my form as well. I'm just not sure. I like the retro themed idea and this was heavily voted on...but will translate into better sales? Large autograph checklist, but how many already have autos on the market? Once again, GU insert sets look awesome. Plus side, smaller case. But also even with a case, not enough to get a HSHS redemption. I also think I'd like to see this a little cheaper, but we'll see.

It's sort of like Sportkings I would imagine. The only way things could possibly get cheaper with the number of high quality cards ITG inserts is to water it down instead of keeping true to their limited print runs.

I know. I am glad to see they brought their case box quanity down. Bad part is though, you need more than a case to get the HSHS. Typically 2 cases would get you almost 3 of them. Then again, no other company makes them collectable, so this is always a big thumbs up from me. Pending the National, I may have one or two cases coming. We will have to see how well SK treats me :) ITG always has the best patches, and given these are game used, I expect the Emblem and number patches (and auto'd versions) to sell really well.

Can you imagine as ITG continues to make a name for themselves, and more and more people start to NOT care about licensing as much as card quality, how much these earlier cards are going to be worth?

I'll take "card quality" over "licensing" every single day of the week and twice on Sundays. After all, the game-used patches, on-card autos, and limited print runs mean a whole lot more to me than an NBA, NFL, MLB, or NHL logo on the card. I can go to Wal-Mart and buy any one of these logos. What I can't do is hope to have a realistic shot at hitting a nice game-used patch or on-card auto from professionally licensed card companies. ITG is where it's at, and more and more collectors are finally coming around to knowing it.

All I can say is, "it's about time!". :)!

I think in the next 2 years, this will greatly change as Topps and UD loose their licenses. Only downside is if Panini can put out a quality product how well will it take off? Downside, the NBA has the stupid exclusives, which hurts the industry as a whole. But if the non licence stuff does take off, ITG may get more respect. That being said, there are lots of hockey collectors that do the ITG stuff. They're still around for a reason. Per Box averages, I'd say they pack out much better than the competition. Oh yeah, no redemptions :) Just wish they could go oncard with these. Once they figure out a way to go oncard, I'll give them 5's across the board.

There are ways around exclusives apparently. Sportkings has player cards that are exclusive to other companies. Here's one example. I have many, many more. ;)

I should mention that the Jordan card above contains a piece of "game-used" Jordan shorts.

Now if only we got you to use Imageshack or Photobucket (which can be set to private)...those scans would look so much better being larger...that being said, Matt..thats a Dandy! Also a great example of how to do a player card (non licenced) and make it look super sharp!
