Made a deal at the East Coast Nat'l to buy a high-end baseball card there that another collector I know wanted. Well, he had the 06-07 MJ Emblems below and traded it to me + cash for the baseball card. The deal worked out nicely as he gave me a nice valuation on the MJ.

Also had my 04-05 Emblems graded and it fared pretty well. I plan on submitting both Emblems below for full slabbing.

thanks bro...just wheelin' and dealin'....last couple deals have been strictly based on contacts met through the forums (Hobbykings for previous deal) and networking at the National in Baltimore (so essentially no Ebay last few deals...all the Ebay cards I wanted so far I have lost out on bidding or not offered enough for offline deals :( a lot more competition on Ebay especially for Exquisite cards)

no, but there is raw slabbing. it is a widely used term, get over it. you are the newest member to my ignore list, congrats!

Wow a 9 on the EE is extremely difficult, just the centering alone would have killed it

Congrats! Having all MJ EoE except 03-04 is a remarkable feat. Hope to see a group shot some time. GL with finishing it off. With market being so high, private deals and trade are ways to go. Great work!

Thanks bro. Unfortunately, I only have half the Emblems...I still need 03-04, 05-06 and 07-08 (of MJ). I have a line on a 03-04, so that will most likely be the next one I get. After that, only time will tell about the other two. My buddy has a 07-08, but he is reluctant to let it go at this point.

Mind me asking what baseball card was it?

07 Topps Sterling Mickey Mantle Bat Barrel Nameplate 1/1. Yes, this is a sick card, but when you look at the specifics of my deal, I was more then happy to give it up. especially given he is a big HOF bat barrel collector and me a MJ Exq collector and the deal worked out nicely.

WhOA, that Mantle bat barrel 1/1 is CRAZY!!! I personally would have a hard time choosing between the Jordan EoE or the bat barrel.

what if you could get the MJ + a big chunk of cash? :D:D Well value wise, the MJ and Mantle are not equal anyhow (Mantle is worth more)...to be honest it was a fair deal on both sides...just more based on preference.

But as long as you like the Jordan, then it's all good. Whatever makes you happy.

It hurts me to look at that Mantle.... but as long as you're happy. :)!

in the end, the deal was possible because the guy who wanted the Mantle got his MJ for cheap a couple years ago and was able to give me a very "attractive" valuation (based on where he bought it vs where the last one sold, he still prob made a nice amount). So, in turn I did not look to really profit off of the Mantle and did not really mark it up (even with me putting my cash on the line by buying it for him). Yes, it was hard to let go of the Mantle once it was in my grasps, but gotta give a little to take a little.

Nicely done my man! That is a great addition to your MJ pc. I know it isn't easy to let some of your favorite cards go for something big like that. I just went through it too and it hurts. Its part of the collecting love that has us all hooked! btw, Nice grade on the EoE!

I wouldn't take two of each of the Jordan cards in the OP and $5,000! :D hahaha

But seriously though, I would imagine a card like that could fetch 10k easy? It's priceless in my eyes...

thanks bro! yea the mantle was such a gorgeous card and I am proud to say that I have owned it (even if it only was for 12 hours, lol).

believe it or not, this card has been quite volatile in price. it originally sold for $10.5k by Beckett Select auctions. since then it has sold in the $6-$9k
range.
