Here's your standard ungraded Jordan
MICHAEL JORDAN 1997/98 Skybox Premium SILKY SMOOTH #1 | eBay (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?campid=5337015507&customid=&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FMICHAEL-JORDAN-1997-98-Skybox-Premium-SILKY-SMOOTH-1-/160868202750?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D1602668791910730347%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26)
And yet another hacked up card.
BGS 9.5 1997 SKYBOX PREMIUM MICHAEL JORDAN SILKY SMOOTH *WITH NET=POP 1* AMAZING | eBay (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?campid=5337015507&customid=&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FBGS-9-5-1997-SKYBOX-PREMIUM-MICHAEL-JORDAN-SILKY-SMOOTH-WITH-NET-POP-1-AMAZING-/330776065286?pt=US_Basketball&hash=item4d03ca3506)
The size isn't even remotely close to a standard card left to right.

Wow. You can't trust even BGS graded cards these days.

Look at how much of the ball is on both cards. How stupid are the people BGS hires?

Beckett are a sham.
Makes those people who stupidly overpay for graded cards look like complete fools.

Every single day we each rely on others to fulfill their niche in society (some call it blind faith). What happens when one of those niches fails to provide the level of service that society deems necessary?
When I buy a microwave I expect (as society does) that when plugged in, it will work as described.
When I go to the doctor I expect that the doctor will use his expertise to diagnose me properly.
When I apply the brake on my car I expect the brake to have been installed properly.
None of us can be knowledgeable in all areas, we rely on others to provide expertise in areas that we simply lack the time to understand. The pressure to do this properly is applied by every individual. When one niche fails to provide the level of effort expected then we all push them back in line.
We must all push BGS to review their business model. We must demand BGS provide the service that we as a society require.
You may smirk at my comments, but we (as a whole) are responsible for the quality of work provided by BGS.

You have a very valid point. However, it is the select few that even research cards enough to realize something has been trimmed or a fake patch has been inserted. There are enough people out there that live in the fog that will keep BGS in business, even though they are super shady in more ways than one.
The same thing can be said about Panini. 99% of us would agree, even though some are just too far up their asses to admit it, that Panini's quality is more than questionable. However, as long as the dope fiends keeping buying their cards, no matter what they put out, they will never rise to a higher quality level.

You describe the very way we allow this to happen. The fog/poor education perpetuates the problem. Posts like this provide education one card at a time. When people ask questions it often provides that push to remain responsible.
Do I have the answer? Definitely not. I know we must pressure BGS to provide the service we expect. How we do that I do not know. I am a social network novice, but I believe avenues exist in the 'newer' communication channels to place immediate pressure on companies to correct a wrong.

Been going on for years. Amazing how beckett has let trimmed cards go through their grasp without noticing a thing...and people are banking hard on it.
It honestly would not even surprise me if beckett has slabbed and graded some fake 86 jordan rc's.

I thought that too and then I realized that these cards open from the left side so there is no way one could trim the left side of the card without the white net that is over the card coming off. So the right side is the only side that was trimmed.

I could have swore I saw a thread on a fake 86 Jordan that they graded BGS 9.5 on here a few months ago

There seems to be alot of cardboard missing on the top and bottom edge as well.

Ah. I have never seen one of these cards. I didn't realize it was a hinged booklet.
This seller sells all graded cards. Do you suspect he/she tampers with the cards prior to grading?

I'm fairly certain he just gets lucky pulling rare inserts out of packs that are shorter on the sides with corners and edges sharp enough to cut glass.

Why do these silky smooth cards chip off so much?
I got a KG but I can't stand the chipping.

We don't know how many he grades that are less than a 9 and never see ebay.
Look at grading posts here. Someone submits 30 cards, but only shows the 12 they receive 9.5 on.
I believe this seller sells under at least two different eBay accounts.

So basically, if this guy can pull off a few 9s, everything he has is legit, is that what you are getting at?
Also, you can see all the grades that a person gets by simply going to Beckettgrading, adding the serial # of the card and then just changing the # by adding 1 or subtracting one. There's a 99 percent chance everything that has the same grading date on it is from the same order.
And from the look of this one, it appears to have been graded at the National Convention.
