I am not a huge hockey collector , but was looking into purchasing a case of 05/06 The Cup Hockey. I was wondering if some of you who bust a lot of hockey would be able to help out with Fair/Good pricing on a 6 Box Case. Your input is appreciated. Thanks

Its going to be pricey wherever you go. You have to look at a couple of things also.
Redemptions are close to expiring.
There aren't many Crosby or Ovechkin's left. Which makes the price point worse.

Would you be able to give an estimate as to How many of each unaccounted for (Crosby/Ovechkin) and do you happen to know if the Redemtions are expired (I assumed they already are)?

Probably about 25 each or unaccounted for, but they could've found their way into private collections without ever showing up on the net. There's one guy who post on here with about 30 of them looks like, so good luck. If you're looking for a specific card you're much better off saving the money and buying it, even if it means saving four or five grand. you're probably looking at $3600 for six bucks case with expired redemption in it.
And if you're doing it for investment, bad move. the Crosby rookie has probably hit its ceiling and the AO rookie is close to it, I had $3600 be out there trying to pick up as many Crosby and others I could under $200, they are out there and can be had for the price, and Pittsburgh's Stanley Cup last year won't be the last.
If you're into the young man's Crosby rookie for even 200 apiece, they win the Stanley Cup again, and you will know them for $300 apiece, you've made 1800 bucks off of your $3600 investment.
The AO rookie from that year might even be better. if you look you can find it for $60. Tracked down 10 of them at that price, stash them, and wait for Washington to win a Stanley Cup which they will, and I'm loathe them for one 120 to 150 and you've made $600-$900 off your $600 investment.
Joel use to call this the KD rule. Take an underpriced card of an established player who has the potential for a breakout season, buy low, and sell after they do something ridiculous and the market is hot.

I wouldn't by a case because its had 3 years to bang around and those cards weren't packed that great in the tins

Thanks for the advice. Just real tempted to pick up the case at $3000. It's never as fun buying the card as it is cracking the box to see that hit. Will have to sit on it some more.

Don't sit on the case, it will damage the cards. :)!
