Question about hot box cases

Does anyone know if the cases with a hot box are dead other than the hot box? My LCS has 2 boxes left from a case where the first box broken was a Magic Johnson hot box. Wondering if they are worth taking a chance on for $550 per box. Thanks in advance for any info.
