Got excited seeing the breaks of this stuff this morning that I had to pick up a case from my LCS... I was really regretting it. Check out these inserts 5 boxes in:

I mean really? No Jordan. No Lebron in any of my key inserts... not even a Magic or Bird (minus a 61 insert) or Erving... Really, at this point, I have a Chris Paul auto and a hope that prices on PMG's really do surprise. I couldn't have been more disappointed in the PMG's. Not one player that I personally collect, or that I generally think has a large collector base.
The last box had this though...

At least he's a high profile rookie (if this were still 2011 at least) and I'm sure player/set collectors will want it.
But then I got this nice surprise...

Sweet!
For those that know me, I was primarily a hoops collector until UD lost their license. I actually forgot what a great feeling it is to pull a MJ auto, especially out of a non-Exquisite like product where there is at least a reasonable expectation that you might. I might just have to go after the '61 auto set if the rest are on card as well.
My other auto's:
88-89 Fleer: Chris Singleton, Lonnie Shelton
97-98 Autographics: Justin Harper, Jeff Capel, Jack Sikma, Bruce Weber, Demeti McCamey
98-99 Autographics: JaJuan Johnson, Marshon Brooks, Chet Walker, Avery Johnson, Robert Horry
99-00 Autographics: Chet Walker, Justin Harper
Rookie Sensation auto's (good memories of my "vintage" Sean Elliott collection):
Tristan Thompson, Marcus Morris, Tobias Harris x2, Reggie Jackson, JaJuan Johnson, Norris Cole, Cory Joseph, Shelvin Mack, Tyler Honeycutt, Chandler Parsons x2, Jon Leuer, Malcolm Lee, Charles Jenkins, Klay Thompson, Keith Benson, Demetri McCamey, Durrell Summers
A few other notes:
Pro's:
The 88-89 Auto's and my one sample of '61 Auto's are nice because they are on card. I hope the other retro (i.e. 86-87, 87-88) are as well.
The PMG's are tasty in person.
They did a nice job of picking some of the nicer designed inserts from the 90's... and left a few concepts (i.e. Essential Credentials) for perhaps future years.
Con's:
Ouch on some of the player selection. I mean 2 Reggie Theus PMG's in one case. Ouch plus Ouch.
UD got cheap on the quality of some of the inserts. For instance, the Flair Showcase Legacies are on tin stock and don't quite have the pop they originally did. Similarly, I think I remember inserts like Noyz Boyz being on Jambalaya stock in the past but now it's simple foil.
The base set is decent enough but I would have liked if they also used an old design here to to make every card you can pull truly Retro in some way.
Thanks for looking!
