That was a bad call, his helmet was coming off

It was coming off, but then take it off, adjust it and put it on. Don't just throw it off

Brandon Weeden with the worst NFL debut I've ever seen...made Gabbert look like a Hall of Famer. Eagles dodged a bullet today...

On a positive note, big day for Cecil Shorts today! Need to scan the modest PC of his I've put together.

The D came to play today for sure, but you got to remember, last year with no training camp, they were awful, every QB seemed like they were going to break 5k yards the first few weeks last year.

I disagree. 60% completion rate in the first half, hasn't produced anything meaningful but hasn't looked bad either. And so many QBs throw interceptions on the last play of the half. His cards will deflate a bit if he doesn't play better in the second half though.

Some big surprises in week one and some not...

Eagles barely winning against Cleveland was a surprise
Jets running up the score on Buffalo was a surprise
Houston's Defense was not a surprise
RG III Not really a big surprise for me but the win was against NO
Giants loss not a surprise
Packers 49ers game not a surprise
AP a bit of a surprise after such a bad injury 9 months ago
Lions a surprise in a close win
Luck not a big surprise

I hope your kidding!Tarkenton, moon,Johnson, Culpepper , Cunningham, and 1 great season with Favre. I wouldnt say they never had a qb!

Did you just call Culpepper a great QB?

Ahh, well...at least the offense picked it up late. Offensive line looks shoddy yet again, and the defense just didn't have it. Randall Cobb looked great, just need more from the secondary. That'll come as Davon House gets healthy...long way to go, but a good game against a heckuva team. Just hope the real officials come back!

And Brad Johnson...I would bring up Tommy Kramer before Johnson or Culpepper. Tarkenton's the only great Vikings QB, IMO. I think of Moon and Cunningham as Oilers and Eagles respectively.

No but he did have a couple really good seasons in Minn., just disputing the claim of them never having a qb.

Well I was already worried about San Fran next week but after watching the lions and the 49ers play today I am really worried!! Anybody think Detroit has a chance against the 9ers?? I think if Stafford gets back to playing smart football like last year they do but if he plays like he did today they are in trouble.

Weeden: the future or the past? How long before Colt starts?
Wilson: not a great start.
Luck: 3 INTs? Sounds very Manning like (rookie year Manning).
RG3: Cream of the class?
Tannehill: I still remember Marino and it looks like nobody will be forgetting him anytime soon.

Stephen Hill: 2 TDs. Nice.
Richardson: Pedestrian.

Any other rookie thougts?

Absolute horrendous running attack by the Panthers. Cam looked extremely unsure back there in the pocket at times.

What? He only looked unsure if he was going to survive or not with that damn O-line. I put the teams failure 90% on the O-line. 10% special teams.

Despite what everyone saw, I am very optimistic about the Panthers this year.

-Special teams were much improved despite that blocked punt. (near dead last last year)
-Defense is much improved in the second half (near dead last last year, I haven't seen them play that well in one game last year)

Cam looked great, with a QB who has a second or two at most to throw. The pocket was being collapsed almost instantly and he had to make quick decisions. The one tipped interception could have happened to even the best QB, he did have the other bad INT that was simply a poor throw.

The O-line was just abysmal. Painful to watch. I blame a lot of it on Amini, being his first NFL game and all and coming from a Division 2 school. The talent is there, the game just needs to slow down some for him.

Overall, expect the Saints and Panthers game next week to be a good one. Probably a very close, very high scoring game.
