This class could go down as one of the deepest classes in the last 25 years.
Lot's of potential pro bowlers. Time will tell.

Time to rip a box of 2011. If I can find one that isn't horrendously overpriced.

you must not have logged on to this forum...... at the beginning of the year people complained so bad about how bad cam newton sucked and nobody was any good, all the box breaks sucked etc. same thing they are doing this year pretty much, but of course some rookies will heat up.

I love grid gear, but maybe thats just because its about the only box I've ever made a profit on...

Well Crown and Gridiron Gear are the cheapest, which is a plus...
Never opened any of these products, so all I know of to expect is what the sell sheets say.

The 2011 draft class was the reason I got into football cards. The class is the best I could remember since the 2004 class which had ben r., ben, fitzgerald, and rivers. Hands down in my opinion much deeper then anything that's come along in rookie cards since the 1986 topps football that had the usfl rookies for the first time

Yeah I had a blast when I busted my case of 2011 Contenders. If you bust a case of 2011 product you're gonna hit some good rookies because the class is just so deep. I think it's a little thin at RB (I know Murray is great and LeShoure looked good today), but it more than makes up for it at QB and WR. There are even some defensive players to chase as well.

No one mentioning Chrome? Surprising. I know boxes are high but if you can find blasters or a good price hooby box, good break. I wish I had my Kyle Rudolph Gold REF /50 from Chrome, pulled it from a blaster and got $20 for it.

I love chrome, but like you said the prices are crazy. BO has it at around $115 I think. Retail is also dried up, I'd scoop up the rack packs or blasters if I can find them

Never opened any Chrome myself, but my guess is a mixture of high prices, 1 guaranteed auto, and the odds on hitting a decent refractor. Mainly high prices for not much in the guaranteed hits department.
Just my guess though.

I would hold off....
I bet the farm in 1999 thinking that that draft class would be the best in history....spent thousands upon thousands UPON THOUSANDS building the SP Authentic set....sold it for something like $200 bucks a while ago.
Same story in 2005...
Reggie Bush Exquisite rookies--$3,500 to $4,500 each--had a FEW....DUD!
Vince Young Exquisite rookies--$1,500 to $2,500--had a few of these as well...one just sold for $51 yesterday.
Matt Leinart Exquisite rookies--$1,000 to $1,500--had 3-5 of these....worth LESS than $50 each.
I'm also heavily invested in the 2011 class, but I'm much more likely (given the INSANE amount of losses I took on previous years) to sell MUCH more quickly....sometimes TOO quickly (at the first sign of trouble).
Point being: don't bet the farm, lol....unless you have multiple farms to play with

You forgot about the refractors. Some color is worth more then many contenders autos. The Rudolph Gold I sold is worth more then the contenders auto. These two products are great and is always a debate on which is good. if football Chrome did it like baseball topps chrome (2 autos, 3 color per box) it would top Contenders. But can't go wrong with either, but there is much more to it then just autos.

I disagree
First off it was 2006 with Young/Bush
2nd-1999 Never had the same buzz going in to year 2.

The amount of crap autos in Contenders keeps some people away. Chrome has SP RC variations, colored refractors (which sell well depending on the player) and a decent auto checklist

I meant 2006, lol.
As I was typing that post I kept thinking to myself....2005...2005....that was the year w/Aaron Rodgers, no? I had everybody--how come I don't have any of HIS cards?
I actually DID have a few Aaron Rodgers actually....
Sold a PSA 10 Contenders Aaron Rodgers rookie in 2006 for $200 (which was a great price back then--thought I made off like a bandit).
I also sold a PSA 10 SPx Aaron Rodgers for $200 (if memory serves correct) @ the same card show (although to different buyers).
Wish I still had those two cards :-\

Hell, a Cam RC from it sells for more then some autos.

LOL... and chrome doesn't have many of the same CRAP autos?
just sayin'
both products are very good and present a lot of potential value down the road.
Who's to say what's the GOOD auto 2 years into the product.
