They will pull a bait and switch.

Ordered about $400 worth of boxes from them and didnt hear from them for 5 days. Then get a voicemail saying all the products I ordered were out of stock and they refunded my money. OK, I understand but here is the problem... they had all the boxes I put an order for on their website only they had doubled and tripled the price they originally sold to me for.

Sick and tired of these ridiculous people in the hobby who dont know how to stand next to an agreed deal because they find out they can make more money. Now they will probably never sell a box at the new prices, lol.

Yeah, at least BO they will honor your original price, then afterwards, they too will raise prices by triple, then a week later, magically have a sale price saving you a whole $5 off. Too bad I can't even support my LCS because they don't even bother to stock enough BBall products.

How in the heck do LCS's stay in business? I just don't get it. Profits in this business are thin, the competition is strong, and yet there are these LCS's that can seem to stay in business while not stocking items or having high priced items that sit on the shelf for months and years.

Who knows, maybe sales from Magic cards and Yu-Gi-Oh?

Cause my LCS seriously sells boxes $20 + and + tax from the regular price from an online vendor....
And there singles are like $1 each, its ridiculous

Man I don't know. I went in one day to buy Topps Finest Football one week after release.

"Sorry, we don't have anymore."

Okay. I can't see how you don't stock one of the more popular football products yet online sites have them readily available.

What about Retro UD?

"Nope we had only 2 cases and sold them all too."

*Gives up any hope on LCS*

Yeah, even if they doubled their money on 2 cases of Retro, that's still only like 6K in profit, 25-40% (?) of that is then taxed, then you've got costs of renting space, hiring help, health insurance, security, etc., etc..

I can see a hobby shop staying in business if they do tons of product, 20-40 cases of all the popular stuff. But how they stay in business with 2 cases of this, case of that, just baffling. It's gotta be the rich parents, or won the lottery and sitting on their butt, or whatever...

i guess lcs learned there lesson over the past 15 years when there were alot of products being produced and they would have stuff sitting on there shelves for years. i guess its good that they are selling out their stock, but it does suck to go to my lcs and there not really be any product to choose from. thats why 95% of the time i buy from blowout.

agree with this x10!! If you are going to run a shop I dont understand how you could make it without selling a lot of the new product. Singles should be just to satisfy what customers are looking for when they need something on the spot, not a business to gouge customers. Once boxes dont sell, they lower the prices to make them attractive get the inventory out (for the most part, always nice to have a few boxes left over) and move to the next products.

My lcs price are pretty competitive, not sure who are his distributors, I think he has 6 different ones. And I know for a fact he doesn't have rich parents, I think it's more about customer loyalty, for example I would rather pay an extra $20/box from him rather than ordering online.
