Hello!
I was trying to figure out how many cases was produced for the fleet Retro.
Came out with 41,500 cases.

Flair showcase is limited to 150 each.
60 sets of flair showcase.
Then the odds is 1 flair showcase per 180 packs.
So at the end came up with
41,500 total cases produce.
Price per case almost $4,000
That's $ 166,000,000
166 million dollars.
What a profit for a product. Ofcourse minus the cases sold before.
Upper deck cashing in without an NBA licence. Genius??? Or monopolizing the price??

Yes, but UD is not selling these cases for anywhere near $4,000 and they never have, so the price is much less.

I don't know the exact number of cases produced but the Flair Showcase cards are falling as often as PMG's. Every case break I have seen has had 6-8 PMG's and 6-8 Showcase.

Typo... recalculated...
13,500 cases....
150 limited number of flair multiplied by 60 the number in sets multiplied by 180 odds per pack
Then divided by 20packs = 81,000 boxes divided by 6 boxes per case
Equals 13,500 cases.....

Your math is all jacked up!

Even with your odds of 1 Flair per 180 packs that is almost 1 Flair every 1 1/2 case.

120 packs per case (20 packs per box at 6 boxes per case). So if there are 9000 Flair cards produced (150 of 60 sets) that means there are 9,000 Flair cards produced.

With an average of pulling one out of every 1 1/2 cases that would mean there are 13,500 cases. NOT 41,500!

HOWEVER, even your 1 in 180 odds are not right.

This is a recent break of a case: http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/basketball-box-breaks/369787-just-busted-my-case-retro-cha-ching.html

Out of 120 packs this individual pulled SEVEN Flair cards. So odds about 1 in 17.

I would say there are maybe 2500 total cases produced if not less.

No offense meant, but if there were 13,500 cases out there, there is no way the value would be up to $4,000 a case... and there would be much more product opened and on ebay by now....

8400 pmg total

average 1 per box 8400 boxes made

6 box case

1400 cases

I think its more like 1200 because 7-8 pmgs in some cases

Your like 3 weeks late and your numbers are way off

UD probably warmed up the presses after seeing how much they can milk retro for.

Maybe some unnumbered PMGs would start popping up? LOL

That is the odd of pulling a flair showcase per pack 1:180
plus i restated that its 13,500 cases....

there are 150 numbered flair per player... okay multiplied by 180. thats the odds per pack =27,000 multiplied by 60 number of names of that set. equals
=1,620,000 packs available.... that's the maximum possible packs produced to justify 2011-12 fleer checklist.
so we divide 1,620,00 packs to 20 packs per box= 81,000 boxes available
then divide that by 6 boxes per case= 13,500 cases available.....

13,500 cases available...

seriouly 13,500 cases available...

Don't get your panties in a bunch; I posted an obvious correction to your math before you changed your numbers. So stop trying to act like they produced 13,500 cases when you KNOW that is not the case.

what UD does, as mentioned in card sharks,is give their executives alloted cases at wholesale prices.the executives sit on a few hundred cases when ud is sold out and the market is dry, the executive start selling at the inflated prices.

That was from their early 90s days when they made like 50,000 cases of everything. I dont know, but I doubt execs were sitting on hundreds of cases of exquisite or retro.

Everyone got their allotment for fleer retro. Being that pre orders went out in Feb 2011 but didnt get released till August 2012, im sure no one reserved any.

At least you didn't have to bust all of the product to pull the drexler.
That would've cost you,...,.,...,
166 million dollars!
