The QUEST to obtain a Bill Russell Exquisite Auto with $50 by June

My search for Tom Brady on BCF went astray and I ended up on a thread about how a member was trying to obtain a 1989 Griffey PSA 10 from a blaster box. From that I went on to read about how somebody turned a paperclip into a house and how someone else on another forum was trying to transform $500 into a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle. I decided to go on my own adventure.

I have $50 to begin with. I will update this thread when deals are completed and will use the b/s/t section to get deals done (so if you are interested in a card check there.) I am a senior in HS and will be graduating in late May 2013, so I will try to complete this task by then since it would be a nice graduation present.

I have many cards I would love to have in my PC, but many of them are very rare.

Since I am only 17, I will try to make this task not to difficult such as aiming for a 10k card, and since I am a senior I do not have much time on my hands. I could go for any of the cards above, so that is what I will do, but my main goal is a nice Bill Russell Exquisite Patch Auto. I am starting with $50. I am aiming for $500 and afterwards will be on the look out for any of the cards mentioned above and if I find one of them that I particular like in my price range I will do my best to obtain it.

I will buy/trade/sell anything I can (cards, packs, boxes, memorabilia) of any sport to reach my goal. I hope this thread will become an interesting read and an inspiration for other members to begin their own quests.

So, when you trade card for card, you don't count shipping cost. But when you trade card for cash, you count shipping cost. I don't get it.

Even for PWE, it is $0.50. You can't ship without paying to post office.

For this to work out you need to convert those cards to cash and then go after something higher end.

Right now you have too many cards without a consistent theme which will make it harder to package in a trade.

I am trying to sell off as much as I can and begin to focus on higher end cards.

Some people have been posting that these type of threads are bad. Well i'm only 17 and probably could never own the card I want any other way. I enjoy the challenge and it makes the hobby fun. What do you guys think?

Well you've inspired me to do something similar. I'm 16 and in high school also and don't have a job yet so the money isn't pouring in for cards. I recently sold a few things and now I'm at $150 and some lower end cards to trade. My goal is to get an Andrew Luck contenders auto. It should be accomplish-able as I'm almost half way there. Just know that this whole project was very interesting and like I said inspired me to do the same.
