I think thats a really tough question. Bynum has so much potential, but sometimes his age shows in a bad way(like coming down and jacking a 3 last year), add in the fact he always has health issues I would have to side with Howard. However, I think Howard's free throw problems are HUGE, then you add in this new back issue and the fact he has always been surrounded by drama and LA is the worst place for that. I hope I am wrong but I kind of question Howard and Kobe working out as Kobe isn't afraid to tell a teammate how things are and Howard has always kind of been protected from that in my opinion. But I still think Howard is better right now.

bynum has a lot of potential, but its not even close at this point in my mind it's howard...he's not a great offensive player (good tho) and is great enough on defense to take over bynum all day...not to mention bynum can definitely be a head case...

No sure who's better, but Howard is definitely a better fit in LA mainly because he plays defense.
Bynum is a bit of a head case and just flat out takes games off, and there's really no place for that in the league. Howard obviously has issues off the court as well that can be a huge distraction, but looking only at on the court, it's got to be howard

Not that close, Dwight is better. Much better defender, rebounder, and just protecting the basket in general...

reality: DH12 is better than Bynum. Before and after the trade.
To Laker haters: DH12 on any team is better than Bynum on the lakers. But Bynum is better than DH12 when DH12 is a laker!!
DH12 was considered the premier player at his position for years. Now that he is a laker, why would it change?

To settle the argument - I'd search Bynum/Howard and read the last 15 page thread on the topic...

Based on pure basketball talent, I say Bynum. Based on sheer strength, I say Howard. Howard doesn't have great basketball skill, but he's athletic as hell. I have to go with Howard by a hair

howard hes still very young and once he developes more post moves he will be unstoppable.

he's had eight years to develop post moves- i don't see it happening and that is why he is overrated.

Howard uninjured is much better than Bynum. He is a much better defender and although offensively Bynum is more polished, he doesnt really impact the game more than Howard on the offensive end.
Now Bynum could totally blossom now that he is out of Kobe's shadow and will be the focal point of that team.

To me Howard all day long. His defense alone wins it for me. While d how back is an issue Bynum body hasn't held up so to me that is at least a wash or nudge to d how. If defense focus on Bynum wo/Kobe in offense I feel most will contain him. I feel like d Howard post game is getting better since working out with Hakeem, using glass more. I think Kobe and Howard will get along, as they both play defense.

Howard is an All-NBA 1st Team C, Perinial AS, multi-time DPOY, LEAD a team to the Finals, and can totally dominate a game without scoring a point (a la Bill Russell). This is not even close. Bynum has really had one good year and I like him and his potential.
ESPN Player Rankings: DH12 #3 only behind Lebron and KD.
I think there is your answer.
