Neither one's re-sell value is worth a shat, but I'd take absolute any day of the week over GS

Did a Group break 10 boxes of gold standard.
Got a Ponder 3 color patch auto, Cam 1 color patch auto, and a Locker gold piece auto
It was a nice case, but still would have lost money on it

Others I had looked at were:
2007 Leaf Limted 25 Box Case $1800 72 Hits- Low resell with ok hits
2007 Leaf Rookies and Stars 12 Box Case $825 48 Hits- Crappy hits
2008 Leaf Limited 18 Box Case $1275 64 Hits- Was a contender
2009 Contenders 12 Box Case $865 56 Hits- Too many expiered redemptions on good players
2010 Plates and Patches 15 Box Case $1175 45 Hits- Hit or miss big time with ok resell value
2010 Prime 12 Box Case $1230 48 Hits- No resell value
2011 Gridiron Gear 16 Box Case $1025 48 Hits- bunch of $10 hits
2011 Absolute 18 Box Case $1860 72 Hits- Could possibly have huge hits or nothing but the best case hits of all cases. Also has some amazing cards come out of it.
2011 Gold Standard 15 Box Case $1555 75 Hits- Unless you pull a "diamond" card or the dual 1/1 autos you will lose big.
2011 Gridiron Legends 12 Box Case $845 48 Hits Never opened it but I heard it wasnt a great product.

I voted in that thread. I'd always vote for absolute. My favorite product each year. I was bored and ordered a box yesterday

I voted 2008 Leaf Limited, price per hit isn't terrible and there are still some Ryan and DMC RPAs floating around out there. Plus you have a better shot at veteran and retired autos in that stuff than many of the others. As cool as Absolute is, the price per hit is way too high (nearly $26 per hit, as opposed to less than $20 per hit for 2008 Limited) and that alone would keep me away from it.

Thats what I was thinking too, but the Ryan and DMC, and maybe 2 others are about the only "good" rookie hits. The rest are washed out. Even then if I look at what they are selling for (Forte $20??? I was like WTF) then its not worth it to me. It would take a super sick Ryan to make it worth busting. About the best thing that could happen is a Walter Payton Cut auto that sells for $200. Then as a "case hit" I can only get 1 cut auto, or letterman, or slide show. Also you usually get 1 auto and 3 GU. The positive about Limited is it had tons of packs to bust which is always fun. With the Absolute you get 4-6 case hits /5 or less and 2 autos and 2 GU. A lot of the rookies are still in the league so you can move most of the cards.

To be honest, all of the cases you had up for consideration were likely money losers, so the best thing to do would be bust what you like. Although you could likely sell most of the hits you get in Absolute, you'll still come up well short of breaking even at that price unless you pull a couple of monsters.
As for Limited, there are other cuts worth good money out there, including guys like Unitas. Also, I own one of those Payton cuts so I am a little biased. :)!
You're right about the 1 auto and 3 GU in Limited, that does suck. However, when considering the Absolute, remember that a lot of those extra autos will be base RC autos that won't sell for $0.99, so there is a little balance.

Dont get me wrong I love the WP cuts out of it. I know that Absolute has some autos that will go for $0.99. Im also aware Im not going to make money on any of these cases. Im just looking to open one I wont lose my a$$ on.

Fair enough. Too bad the Contenders redemptions are expired, that was easily the best case on your list if they were still good. Still, there are a bunch of live autos that will fetch a decent return and Panini will work with you on the expired ones...
Any way you go, best of luck and be sure to post the break of whatever you end up doing! :)!

Honestely if I where you go 2012.... You have the rookie hype up, and a $1 card (take Alfred Morris before the season started) can turn into $50 in a day. 2007-209 guys A LOT have been weeded at and you will have problems selling majority of the hits besides the select few who pan out.... I would save up for 2012 chrome if I where you and for those prices you can just about buy two cases. Would be a much better break IMO..
Edit: seems like you want a case with a lot of hits. Momentum has great value right now also & you get a TON of hits..

Panini is still honoring 2009 contenders redemptions. Got my Louis Murphy in 2 weeks.

Completely staying away from 2012 products. Prices are diving faster than BO can mark cases down even on Luck and RG3.

Thats good to know. I think Im going to go with 08 LL since its the cheapest and it seems that all cases are a lose/lose situation and just use the rest of the money to buy a thing or two.

2011 Contenders wasnt even on my list. Prices on the cards have fallen but BO hasnt dropped the prices on cases. 08 LL was just too good of a cheap break to pass up. Price per hit and case price plus number of packs you get (which is what the wife loves) is just too hard to pass up.
