I bet they do. Theres no way anyone can stop us for four quarters. And this game just started second half. You guys are judging Oregon on NO DEFENSE but were judging bama on SO SO OFFENSE.
Pac12 has great offenses and SEC has great defenses. So you cant say that we wouldnt hang with bama.
We HUNG with Auburn in 2010 inwhich auburn thrashed the SEC. matchups buddy.
Also, looks like we cant handle these NFL caliber receivers tonight. But the Pac12 is known for its flag happy refs when it comes to PI calls. You cant touch the receivers in this league. It SUCKS! I CANT STAND IT!

I was surprised to how lousy USC tackled for the most part and how much it looked like they were just watching as ball handlers ran by them.
But Im tellin you, this is what Oregon's offense does to you. Guys get overwhelmed with whats going on around them at such fast pace. Too much speed. It doenst seem like it to the naked eye watching the game from your TV, but Oregon does it to everybody.
The other team just kinda gives up on D cuase it applies too much stress on there defense. Speed at every postition, every offensive player is a threat and you have to be diciplined when playing D while reading your keys. USC did pretty well here and there after they settled down and tried to adjsut to oregons speed. But eventually they get lost.
Last couple years USC or other good defens's coulda stifled oregon's offense by playing dicipline football and not biting on the wrong player. But this season oregon pretty much has the full package theyve been building. Speed at every position and good talent all around.
Just too many parts and peices to keep up with if your a defense.

yeah pretty much, along with most of the analysts out there that watch the ducks in person. Im not saying we would thump bama, Im sayin I think we have a good shot at beating them. I know they have a sick D, but Im pretty certain we could score almost at will and rack up atleast 30 on them!
Now that mariota is passing more and Kelly is opening up the playbook for him as the schedule gets tougher, no team can handle all positions on the field. running is one thing, but when oregon can pass down field to there speedy reeceivers while defenses have to contain Mariota along with play the threat of a bursty running game between two different backs plus the qb, good luck with your Down South, Trench Diggin, Dirty, Big O Lineman trying to stop it!!!

i wouldnt say every duck fan... i think bama is a better team for sure. But for SEC fans to continue their ignorance that football isnt played outside of the SEC is comical. You cant say Oregon sucks, or Oregon would get beat by 24.... Who knows in the title game what could happen... Oregon will score points regardless of who they play... I dont think for a second they are going to hang 62 on Alabama, but they will keep it close at the very least. I remember the talks before the Auburn/Oregon game on here, i'm sure some of the same guys on this thread. guys were saying oregon gets beat by 30+ and that oregon could get shutout... I dont think this years Alabama team is as good as that years Auburn team, its pretty close, but i will tell you Oregon is much better overall this year than they were the year they lost to Auburn 22-19 in the National Championship.
I doubt Oregon will get the chance to play Alabama for the title which is a shame because everyone would love to see that matchup. I think its a better matchup for Alabama if they play Kansas State for the title than oregon.
Just an FYI, Kansas State was supposed to play Oregon this year in Eugene but backed out of the agreement... How awesome would that game have been?
Have fun the rest of the season guys..... and fellow Duck fans, lets remember that we arent far removed from being nationally irrelevant... took us 15 years to get back into the Rose Bowl...

I can agree with this post...sums it up quite well imo..the problem is many dont see it the same way.
I no doubt think it would be a good game..but please see homer boy who posted above you..."blah blah blah im pretty certain we can score atwill and hang 30 on them"
thats where the 2 sides seem to butt heads.
Oregon fans and non-SEC fans..say Oregon CAN do this and put up all these points on them blah blah blah.
They havent played a defense anywhere close to an SEC defense...much less Bamas defense.
And on the same note...Bama hasnt faced a high powered offense either.
I also hear locally on the radio that UT is trying to opt out of their game with oregon as well...but are fearing a severe PR backlash, since they already played here at Knoxville.

Im pretty sure UT isnt on the schedule anyways???? Could be wrong but i know they play mich. State home and away.
College football isnt as big here as it is in the south (any westcoastfan who disagrees, go watch an sec game in person....) so you get a lot of front runner fans out here who dont even know who the ducks quarterback was before dennis dixon let alone guys like tony graziani danny oneill akili smith or bill musgrave. I am constantly having these talks with newer duck fans and they really do love their ducks right now, but i cant fault them for supporting them...whats annoying is that they are usually the ones running their mouth and starting all the drama....
A rose bowl to me is about as good as it gets... I remember watching the ducks get rolled when i was a young kid and sitting in a half empty autzen stadium.... Now people are disappointed if oregon doesnt beat washington by 40.... Its hard for people to appreciate a simple win if they havent experienced getting thrown in the mud.
I try not to partake in defending the pac-12 discussions but the only real argument that we can throw out is our bowl record, and non-conference record.... Its extremely good over the past few years and i would imagine that holds some clout. Cal almost beat ohio state this year and Arizona pounded ok state. You can play the who-would-beat-who game all year long, but until they actually play no one knows......
Is the SEC better than the pac-12 top to bottom? Iwould say Yes
Is the SEC better defensively than the Pac-12? Yes without a doubt
Is the SEC better offensively than the Pac-12? No
Is the SEC more traditional than the Pac-12? Yes
Would the No. 1 team in the SEC beat the Pac-12 No. 1? Who knows, i'd love to see it happen.

Again i can completely understand your posts..well thought out and written logic. Unlike half the crap you see posted.
Im sure most of it is SEC biased fans clashing against everybody who doesnt want SEC in another title game.
I will admit that the Ducks defense IS improved over last year...but thats not really sayin much ;)
The whole argument that LSU/Bama shouldnt have been the NT game because it was "boring" is what irritated me the most. Its not about entertainment value..its about getting it right and having the 2 best teams in college football playing a game for the title.
Im honestly not a fan of the playoff system either..itll make the season even longer, present more injury opportunities, and the overall unpredictability of things.
As for UT..it was announced a few weeks ago:

While they didnt win it, you cant say they werent in it. That game could have gone either way. Oregon had the momentum towards the end and remember the infamous run by the Auburn RB who everyone thought he was down at near mid-field but no whistle and took off running for another 25 yards setting up Auburn to kick a game winning F/G with no time left?
Can you say "FLUKE PLAY"? nonetheless, Auburn won and SEC claimed another one but I dont wanna hear this "OREGON COULDNT HANG OR STAND A CHANCE AGAINST BAMA" crap. We are a much improved more complete team than two years ago.
Also, against SC saturday, Oregon was playing without 3 of there defensive starters for all or most of that game. Key guys who have been playing lights out so far this season.
And USC has the best trio of WR's and TE in the nation along with a solid built NFL O-line, oh, and I believe the projected #1 pick going into the draft next year most analysts say. So there gonna get theres if you know what I mean. Our job saturday was to outscore them and put up points. Had we played our 2 or 3 defensive guys we were missing we might have been able to put more preassure on Barkley which you HAVE to do against him if you wanna stand a chance defending his talented NFL receivers on extended plays downfield.
Alabama has good stout D and would probably shut down Oregons running game for the most part for most of the game but dont think they could defend all of the options out in space at the same time.
But, thats to be determined on the field.
Hopefully it all plays out so that we can get there and have a shot at it.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Very helpful links, I've been looking for some like it to see how bad it was for Clemson. #53 in the first and #38 in the second. Could be worse, at least we've manhandled the last few teams.
Unrelated: Why do you guys keep bringing up former years? It doesn't matter what the SEC has done to Oregon in previous years. It's all about what they could do this year. If Alabama graduates 22 starters and Oregon brings in the top 22 players in ESPN 150 for next year, are we still going to say Alabama is the better team? No, because after a season is over it does not matter :)!

BINGO. Every year is a different year all together. Using any traditional or past performances in support or argument for this year's outcomes is ignorant.
I want to see an Alabama/Oregon match up because I think they're the two best teams in the country based on what they have done this year. Even if LSU (I'm a lifelong LSU fan) may have been and may be the second best team in the country, it no longer matters as they've had their shot and lost.
Current rankings mean little--it's how the regular season ends that will dictate the match-ups.

And a 6 year winning streak for the SEC in the national title is not dominance?
Heck the only way a SEC school can lose a national title, is to play another SEC school (like last year). I mean that shows you superior the SEC is, two teams in the National Title, both from the same conference.

It happened against the "rules" the BCS has set. Only Bama should have been represented, seeing that they were conference champions.
There's no arguing that the SEC produces STRONG talent year over year, but the blind obedience to the conference is asinine.

Heck the only way a SEC school can lose a national title, is to play another SEC school (like last year). I mean that shows you superior the SEC is, two teams in the National Title, both from the same conference.
Its alot easier when thise SEC teams get preseason ranked in the top 10 every year where they can lose and flop back n forth and still remain in the top 5 to get a shot.
I remember back when florida boasted TeBlow for 3 years and won what 2 Natis? They never left the state to play a road game, played not one challenging new non-conferance team and started out 4-0 because of it.
Teblow for heisman was a joke, all I ever saw him do on his 100 TD's was one yard sneaks and got all the hype for number of Touchdowns.
Ducks will Roll the Tide and outscore them to win the Nati.

I look at it like this:
Many people think Bama could beat a bad NFL team. Could Oregon beat a bad NFL team? Absolutely not. If Oregon's offense would work in the NFL everyone would be doing it. Sorry...but Bama smokes Oregon each and every time they play...and I can't stand Bama.

I have watched Bama all year and think they are very good. Bring on Oregon.

Oregon scored 27 points against LSU last year.
So did Alabama...it just took them two games

lol....can USC every have a year without any type of controversy or bad press about them. Lane Kiffins says he had no knowledge about the situation but i'm having my doubts about it. Good thing they loss because Ducks fan would go nuts.

An ugly win is better than a pretty loss.

lol, yeah, thats what I hate about SEC getting so much respect when there winning or beating eachother up. Both Ark and Fl lose and near loss to Louisiana-Mon and both teams were ranked in top 7 at one time or two.
LSU struggles against Townson and noone says a thing. LSU has a loss as well at that point and almost beats bama and everyone says it was a tough gritty game when bama pulled it off. thats all fine and maybe true but say those things and use those excuses when your evaluting other teams outside the SEC.

Referencing it to support an argument implies he finds some validity in it. Thanks for your input

What would you have said if Oregon put up that type of showing versus ULL?
