I noticed that one of the 'Limited Threads' I had was holofoil unlike the others. Turns out this one is the 'Prime' version numbered out of 25.
How good is this patch!!

Clearly I'm being sarcastic. How the heck can you get away with calling this 'Prime'... Even looking at different angles there doesn't appear to be anything other than jersey in this card.
Pathetic.

Yeah, there are plenty of "prime patches" that are just white lettering or piece of a number, thats one thing. THIS is clearly white jersey as far as I can tell. Def contact them for replacement.

Yeah I got a Yao like this from 2010-11 classics in a lot I bought a long time ago. Everybody makes these mistakes though, and Panini is definitely up to par in this aspect of card making (sadly not a lot else).

I just realized yesterday that my Michael Floyd Rookie autograph Jersey Patch out of Prestige is this way, it says Prime next to the patch but is solid white. It is numbered out of 99 and I honestly didn't know what to do about it saying prime and being solid white. Let us know how it goes if you do contact them.

On the Spurs away jersey, the numbers are made from this mesh material! I know it is a boring patch, but it IS definitely a piece of the number. It just doesn't have breaks!
Just go look at the KD Exquisite 35/99 that people were talking about earlier. Single colour patch on that and it is a HIGH end product!
It happens!

Regardless of if it actually did come from a patch is besides the point. If a collector can't even tell it's from a prime piece of the jersey it doesn't deserve to be called a prime piece.
That said, I've had companies switch jersey cards for me before for different reasons (damage and missing patch). They do have the technology to do it, especially Panini. It's the autograph cards that are tougher to switch. Put in a claim and send it in if you really care enough about it.

I know the type of mesh in the numbers of the newer jerseys, none of them look like this one. That said, the 'patch' isn't the same cut as normal jerseys, so I'll take your word for it, that there is just normal cotton mesh inside the numbers. Pretty damn sad though, seems like a rip off, when it actually just looks like a piece of regular jersey!

100% agree with you that it is a shame.
Here is a close-ish shot of an Authentic Home Jersey. You can easily tell the difference between the mesh used on the main jersey as opposed to the mesh in the numbers:

i agree with drob50, from his picture, your plain white "prime" looks like fabric for the number.
Check the 'hole' on your the body and the number closely, and you can see the body hole is more symmetric and the number hole is looks like your plain white "prime".

I hate Prime cards like this. They should make an attempt to at least cut the prime parts where there's at least 2 breaks in it. Makes it looks much better and less crappy cards. I know they try to use the most they can out of a jersey but it sucks.
