It's funny, you can submit 100 blank cards and get 95/100 BGS 9.5 grades .... but if the cards say Michael Jordan, you'd get 40/100 BGS 9.5s


BGS constantly hands out 8-9 grades for MJ cards recently. It's all so odd.


Also, with higher end cards they tend to give lower grades, from personal experiences ... yet high grade high value cards do exist. I guess you have to be one of the 'lucky' ones who gets a 9.5 on a card that deserves a 9.5 and not a 9.

I submitted a Kobe Exquisite card that was SHARP ... INCREDIBLY sharp. And somehow it got an 8.5 for corners?



BGS is a fishy, uncomfortable company. People still use them because of the value they create, but I still wouldn't trust their processes and procedures being 100% legit behind the scenes...

My two highest end cards both got 9.5s so I'm not sure on that theory although I don't have a ton of grading experience. I sent a 2012 Topps chrome Bryce Harper blue refractor auto and a 2010-11 upper deck North Carolina Michael Jordan SSp auto and both came back gem.

To the op, that's still a great card and if the corners got a 9.5, you might want to break it out and resub for a bump on edges or surface. I feel those are the easiest two categories to get bumped.

why people use Becketts increadinly random grading service is beyond me.. u could have 2 cards same condition same card and they would come back wildly different for no reason. PSA is so much better than that normally.

I remember you mentioning this Wilt card in the past. I think you sent it in and they messed up the surface? To the OP - Is the made in Taiwan on both sides of the team bag? I think it takes away from the card so much that I would never use such a thing. I saw a thread where every card pictured had this going across it and it looked horrible. Just my 2 cents.

actually made in taiwan is on the card itself.

The taiwan is even die-cut around where the jersey piece is.

You know, I think it's because it's a patch card. I've notice all patch cards (especially the thicker ones) that I've submitted usually came back a 9. I never got a 9.5 on a patch card before. So don't feel bad at all. It's still a Jordan.
