Finally put it together. Finalist /10 and MVP /10 are on the way. Here is what I have at hands:

I think I'm converted from a Kobe 90s collector into a Kobe Panini collector in some sense.
Happy holidays everyone!

Topps never had a patent on chrome technology?...back in 1993 Classic brand issued several chrome cards.Topps is far from the founder when it comes to chrome. The only right Topps would have is the name "Topps Chrome" thats about it.
Nice gold's spin!

so why did panini/donruss and leaf wait 20 years since 1993 Finest baseball? (the first chrome set)... in the US a patent lasts for 20 years... makes you go hmm lol.
I do remember those classic cards crica 1992-93.. but they never did that again. Possible Topps bought the tech and then patented it? Or just bought the patent itself?

Classic had chrome long before Topps thought about it in 1996.

did you get these because they look good in person ? or did you get them because it's one of the rarest and most highly sought-after inserts that panini has to offer
either way, impressive to get all 5

Thanks for all the kind words and supports, and nice discussion about chrome origin/patent.
I'm glad top parallel is /10, because 1/1 would make such a set a distant costly goal, less hyped (less opportunities and less price reference) and making second level more realistic parallel far less desirable. Also gold color matches Kobe's jsy.
I tried to make serial number adding up to 24, and almost succeeded when I agree to a good asking price of the missing card which would add to 24, but seller didn't reply back to follow up.
I then tried to get 1/, 2/, 3/, 4/ and 5/, almost succeeded, but a guy pulled missing number of the missing card didn't like my already good offer and never countered in his first reply, when I raised in my next message and he said he sold it already. And buyer is already a collector loving the card, so I didn't try to get from new owner.
It's all about timing and opportunity during picking up these I guess. Tempted to finish these pattern when they appeared and picked up a duplicate in trying to do so, but just glad that this set has been completed before new year as a gift to a Kobe fan myself.

8. I had a duplicate in my trying to complete adding up to 24 then contiguous numbering of the set, both felt just short.
Edit: I didn't mean to add that smiley up there in this title, don't know what happened. :P

Yeah, I have been collecting 90s for various reasons. Now almost got every key cards I like most, and certainly love to add a few holy grails when timing and chances allow in the future. But market price and other trimming/overgrading/fake/tampered auction have put me off to add more more cards like /50- /100 which will be available later. I think time not to fully focussed on those past releases and open mind to a few current set which I like, more cost friendly to collect and more current/chase.

I like the design, large base set, insert being somewhat parallel to base in design and numbering, rarity in numbering. They look really nice when you open up one touch lid and inspect, so probably will keep this condition insensitive set ungraded. There are so many /1, /2, /3, /5, /8 Panini cards, rarity alone doesn't make the cut, and I tried to get them before they becoming sought-after, as I find it no fun to pay to get cards when they are hyped up to be something above what they really are. A really well thought out and great executed product, a watershed release by Panini.
Happy holidays and enjoy the games and hobby!

I know these people developed the Chrome technology:

Not sure what went down with the patent, I know companies have made several non-sport sets with the chrome technology.
