Hi all. I'm new to this board, but plan to be an active participant. I'm currently a Power Seller and Top-Rated Seller with Ebay, selling nothing but sports cards. I'm sure this is not new to a lot of you, but I am being scammed by elssportscards out of Boston, MA, and wanted to know if anyone has the best advice on how to try and avoid getting my first negative feedback from this scam artist. He bought a lot of 6 Tom Brady rookie cards from me, and claims 4 have "excessive wear or damage to the corners". Absolutely not true, and regardless, there was also no mention of card condition in the item description.

Subsequently, I checked him out on Toolhaus, and found out the story on the guy. Any advice? I take pride in my feedback and the quality of cards I sell, and don't want this adolescent to ruin my Ebay experience. Thanks!

Have you already offered him a full refund if he returns the cards? That is what I would try first.

P.S. Welcome to the site!

That is what I have done thus far, but reading the threads on Toolhaus, he tends to keep the cards and then file a claim with PayPal and not end up paying. I'll keep my fingers crossed! Thanks!

you can possibly try and get ebay involved and make him unable to leave feedback.

He can not keep the cards and get a refund through paypal. If he files a claim he must return the cards before a refund is given. He will either have to keep the cards.. no refund or return cards and refund will be given by paypal. Avoiding a negative is not good unless he is truly lying and keeps cards and moves on.

He started by fishing for a partial refund of 20.00, he claims 4 of the 6 cards have damage and wear on the sides, absolutely not true. He does this all the time claiming damaged cards. We know that paypal almost always sides with the buyer in these cases although in the last 60 days he's made 50 negative feedback comments, some even about high shipping..don't bid if you don't like the shipping costs and that's what stars are for.

Anybody know the powerseller help#, ebay makes it impossible to find any phone numbers....

I offered him a refund, no reply. He has now escalated to a full fledged claim with paypal. Now what???? Any words of wisdom???

Judging by his feedback, you are screwed. Tell him to piss off and take the negative. Or swallow your pride and give him a partial refund. This guy is a sleezeball. He has found the tiny loophole in the system, refuses to send cards back and demands a refund or he will give you a neg. I feel for ya man.

I would assume it would be "elssportscards" judging from the title :p

By his FB seems like he buys to have cards graded. If he don't get the grade he wants he complains.

For all that complain about S&H: If you buy a card and know what the S&H is when you buy it then complain S&H is high.

YOU ARE A JACKASS:devil:

He can't complain about shipping, he paid 2.25 for six cards.

Anybody know how to contact ebay to complain about this guy???

And sellers have to complain about him in positive feedback remarks. eBay gives the seller no power to expose scammers.

He escalated to a claim, I ended up giving him a 20 partial refund as we all know paypal would have sided with him (the condition of the cards wasn't even mentioned in the description, they were prisitine when they left my hands) of course he still neg'd me big time....what a joke!

Check his feedback left for me "sportsfanatic1967".

Ebay of course could care less, I emailed them about his obvious and blatant scamming but they'll do nothing of course!

so funny, that this is the reason that ebay supposedly got rid of negative feedback being left for buyers because they were being exploited for feedback. It is pretty obvious this guy is a scammer and eBay won't do a thing.

Negative/Neutral Feedback left by elssportscards (http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=elssportscards&Dirn=Left+by&ref=home)

Toolhaus.org gives you more information than you can easily find on ebay, ebay doesn't make it easy to find out stuff like this.

Just reading this guys feedback left for others makes me cringe. This guy is the scum of the earth and obviously has been scamming decent sellers for a while. He goes into transactions KNOWING the shipping costs and then agrees to those terms when he purchases the item. Then leaves feedback and demands refund after he received the item (or pretends he never received his item!) It almost seems like he goes into the transaction looking for reasons to leave negative, and for ways to get the card for free and abuse the loophole in a shitty ebay system. I wish someone knew this guy so they could smack him around for a few days straight.
