So my buddy and I hit the local card shop today. I went in thinking I only had the money for 2 packs of something ($20). My friend starts opening a box of 2012 Certified. He opened 5 packs. In his 5 packs were these two hits

So after those packs were out I said I wanted to open two packs and reached in and grabbed a pack and pulled some Jersey card of Dwayne Bowe, I later ended up trading off to the LCS for a 2010 Clinton Portis Mirror Gold #'d 24/25 and Prestige RC of David Wilson #'d 092/100 Holokote. My buddy says to me are you going to keep going and seemed a little pissed at this point and I said to him just one more pack for me and I'm done and reach in and pull this

Bam major mojo right? My first pulled Andrew Luck after opening tons of boxes this past year. I'm on cloud nine. I turned $20 into $150. Except one major problem. My friend is super pissed because I broke the card etiquette everyone knows except me....when someone is opening packs of a box don't open anything even if they say it's ok.
See believe it or not I got into this hobby just last year and really never got into opening wax. I seem to always lose when I open wax and have never pulled much of anything from anything except those very rare occasions I can remember (2011 Contenders case was good to me, Leaf Football box I got a Cam Newton and Julio Jones auto same box) but generally I've lost money on every single box I've ever opened. Even recently I opened a hot box and lost money on that too (had 9 hits but only supposed to have 4). I always lose money on busting wax so I generally avoid it at all costs and just trade singles.
So little did I know I was going to cause so much drama with my friend on those 2 packs of Certified. I felt awful because I hurt him and I wanted to make it right with him so I paid for all 7 packs we opened. Cool thing was I got to keep his 2 hits which I liked too but what started out as a 20 dollar trip turned into a 70 dollar trip so I wasn't extremely happy with that part but I pulled a luck so I couldn't be upset right? That's majo mojo! Except I can't ever stay on a budget when I go to a card shop, sigh.
So then my friend opened some more wax after that but generally seemed upset and I still felt awful about this so I traded him the Luck I pulled and got this one from him. I personally think it's a monster hit for me and one for the PC. After he got the Luck back that rightfully should have been his all along all was well in the world. He offered me that card in trade and was happy to get the Luck. I am happy with my card too. So my Luck landed me this one numbered Michael Jordan out of Junior Seau (23/55)

At the end of the day I realized my mistake and I made a voe today to never reach my hand into a box that someone else is opening packs from ever. I never want to take someone's card away and I never want to hurt anyone's feelings over cardboard. I learned a valuable lesson today and while it cost me $50 more dollars then I wanted to spend I only thought it right I did that. He's forgiven me and He and I are both happy how it turned out and that's what is the most important thing to me. Sometimes lessons can be expensive :)
