Did anyone see this, did it look bad? This could really screw up the run at 50 in 50.

Looks like it might be a separated shoulder they are saying....

If he is out of the lineup for an extended period of time, it will be interesting to see how well (or poorly) the team does without him. My guess would be to expect to see lots of new check-marks in the "L" column.

That being said, I hope it isn't a long term deal. I think the guy is an all around prick, but hes a hell of a player and I wouldn't wish serious injury on anyone.

I disagree. I've met him several times. While he certainly knows he's great and never smiles, he's always been polite and accomodating for fans.

Ovie was at my table at the show with his Dad (where were you Mr Snyder?) prior to his signing session, he is always engaging with the fans. For a superstar of his magnitude in 2009 he handles himself very well. I wholeheartly agree with Mr Snyder.

He doesn't smile because he is missing teeth!!.....:D He does think his poo doesn't stick too.

He also prefers Russian chics over American girls. They take it in the end.....

The Caps will be fine, that team is screwed if Backstrom (a.k.a. The Conductor: Gotta love the Caps announcers) gets hurt, he is the straw that stirs the drink.

I disagree. If Ovie is out long term the Caps will fall in the standings. You can't replace that production and leadership. I don't think they play well enough on D to make up for the lack of scoring.

Watch it with the Malkin bashing. It was more a decision by the team than Malkin as he'd been playing with the injury for a little while. I'd rather him sit out a week or two and come back in than to see him play hurt, get hurt worse and miss the rest of the season.

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Washington Capitals say Alex Ovechkin is "week-to-week" with an upper-body injury.

The Capitals said Monday that the two-time league MVP suffered an "upper-body strain" in Sunday's overtime loss to Columbus.

Ovechkin had an MRI and will travel with the team while receiving treatment.

Ovechkin has missed only four games -- and just two because of injury -- since coming to the NHL in 2005. He sat out once during his rookie season with a groin injury and couldn't suit up for one game last season because of a bruised heel. He also missed two games last season to be with his ailing grandfather in Russia.

If Ovechkin is out a week, he would miss three games: Wednesday at New Jersey and home-and-home against Florida on Friday and Saturday. He led the league in goals (14) and points (23) through Sunday's games.

"We have to buckle down," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "You look at a goal a game he scores. We've got to play better defense. We can't allow four and five goals a game. You have to win 3-1 and 2-1 and, if you get lucky, sometimes make it a 4-2 game. I think we have enough character players who understand what we will have to do without Alex."

Ovechkin appeared to hurt his left shoulder or left arm during a second-period scrum that started when he was bumped by Jason Chimera. Ovechkin responded with a shove, and players from both teams quickly joined in.

Ovechkin stayed in the game, but later in the period became tangled with Raffi Torres and fell to the ice. He got up grimacing and gingerly skated directly to the locker room.

The Capitals did not practice Monday, although Ovechkin was at the practice facility for treatment.

Now they say he'll be back Saturday. I haven't seen this kind of injury coverage since Barbaro.

Here we go again, I knew since it was a hockey thread it was only a matter of time.:D I haven't seen bickering like this since my Mom and mother-in-law were in the same room. Shame on me for thinking that neither would bring up the same oldshit.

Fight nice, carry on....

No fighting, just busting chops a little :D All in good fun as long as Eric doesn't get his panties in a bunch.
