....for Jed Lowrie and Fernando Rodriguez?
I'd say the Astros cleaned up here.

sad to see Chris Carter go. He had glimpses of greatness in situational duty but Lowrie should be quality too

They sure did. After all, the Astros got Jed Lawrie for Mark Melancon.
Also, interesting to note, an inter-division trade.

"According to Cot's, #Astros' commitments for this season now $14.575M. Five players under contract. Rest between 0 and 3 years of service."
Disgusting.

Wtf? I really don't see the upside in this deal for the A's.

Like this trade a lot for the Astros. Hopefully a couple of the massive haul of prospects they've gotten over the past year or so turn out to be decent starters. Not sure what the A's are doing.

Sad to see my friend Max Stassi leave the A's but hopefully he will get a chance to start soon.

Jed Lowrie if you can stay healthy may be a really interesting player. Showed great power last year.
Like the deal for both sides.

Never doubt a move by Billy Beane...ever. Lowrie will help out alot in the middle infield and is a switch hitter. Billy loves his switch hitters.

Could this be Billy himself with that name and first post ever.....

Honestly you cant blame the astros for trying to save some money, they are moving into a division with rangers and angels two of the top 5 american league teams IMO, not to mention oakland who has a solid team and seattle has a up and coming franchise. Try to make some money, grow the farm, maximize there money and rebuild up next couple years. They have a good farm club around them now its time to make it happen.

As an Astros fan, I LOVE what they're doing. Selling EVERY SINGLE asset they have for young players is a process they needed to go through. Drayton (past owner) kept the team mediocre for WAY too many years, propped up by overpriced veterans at the cost of draft picks, because he was trying to sell the team and didn't want to hurt the value by rebuilding correctly. I don't know what to make of the new owner, but I love that he had the balls to come in here and do what should have been done 5 years ago
