I put my first ever larger scale (for me) batch of cards on ebay last weekend, and am aiming to eventually use the proceeds for boxes or a single depending on how much I raise. I know that everyone will say "buy the card" but some free-feeling wax never killed a man.

That said, a main card I have wanted to pickup for a while has been a Dr. J. RC, and I just want to measure how safe it is to pick up raw copies.

Can anyone advise?

I don't think this card is one that is counterfeited too often. Just watch out for reprints. There are lots of them out there. What grade/condition are you looking for?

just something decent - would prefer BVG 7-8 or PSA 8ish, value-wise i think if i buy graded.

i think i will have my options, but want to extend them just in case.

If you buy PSA, BVG or SGC you'll be fine on the authentic concern. If you buy raw, just buy from someone reputable and make sure you have a return option just in case. It's a great card. Let me know when you find one you like! :)!

bumping this again to get some more opinions - have some extra cash and may finally be trying to buy soon.

There are a lot of counterfeit Julius Erving RCs popping up lately on eBay. Most if not all the fakes have color issues on the front of the card.

If I were you I would really stick to Beckett, PSA, and SGC graded copies.

If money is the issue, I would save a month extra just to buy the BGS or graded copy. Sometimes, it is not worth to take the risk.
