Compared to last year and especially the year before, this year's Panini products are just awful. Patches are insanely rare, let alone patch autos. There are no true rookies with jerseys or patches like 10-11 Certified, just a few insert sets that are something like 1 per case. Their product line is just terrible this year.
Which product took the biggest downturn?
Absolute Memorabilia
Limited
Timeless Treasures
Threads
Certified
Contenders
(These are all the products that Panini produced before the lockout/double rookie class [10-11] and reproduced this year)

In my opinion it's Timeless Treasures, they absolutely murdered it

Which is exactly what a lot of people have been asking for.

Never really liked or bought timeless so can't comment. I think the biggest downfall was absolute. I didn't even realized they had dropped the 'memorabilia' fromthe name until well after I broke the box, and was super confused by the fact that there was not a single patch or even a jersey card in my box! It was the worst break I've had all season. A close second for me is TC, it's not a bad product, but it really blew me away first time around, but this year, it felt a bit lacking and uninspired. My 2 extremely weak breaks didnt help there case either.
Oh and on a positive note, can I just say I feel contenders were an improvement. Mainly due to ditching those corny looking manufactured patch autos.

before i even looked at your options Timless was in my head as the clear cut BOTCH of the Year, they may as well retire this set because its garbage and i didnt touch it this year i watched countless friends members get torched. I dont think any of number of improvements would bring me back . I like panini so dont get me wrong but again, they destroyed timeless this year :(

Prizm and Contenders are the two best products Panini has put out this year, IMO... everything else is just meh.
Little or no barely-worn photo shoot jerseys? Sounds like an improvement to me.

They destory 11-12 RC cards. At this point, they are miking 11-12 2nd year products as "RC" while holding the 11-12 XRC cards. Seriously, they had 14 months to get something done for thoat 11-12 RC cards, and yet, they don't bother to do anything.
This company is just shady as hell.

I think they would have if the league had let them make cards during the lockout. Hockey's going to have the same thing next year.

They could start printing the card in Jan 2012. They could have the card printed by Feb 2012. They had all the summer to ask 11-12 RC to sign.
What funny is that, they can easily roll out 12-13 auto cards (even on-card auto), but not 11-12 RC (come on, just a few sets anyway). This tells me how shady this company would go out to make extra bucks.

They can switch around names of all their products and I wouldn't even notice.

I feel the reason they have yet to ship the 11-12 XRCs is because that would kill their "historic double rookie class". If you had the option of buying an actual rookie year card of Kyrie vs his 2nd yr card that is being called a RC wouldn't most everyone opt for the 'true' rookie card? In doing so it would kill the value of their boxes/cases. By only having Anthony Davis and Damian Lillard (base at that) as the big rookie chase cards.

Exactly. Like the product in the poll, I have to go to ebay to search for the image to remind myself what that product looks like.

This man makes an excellent point.

I said "most," so it can only be one. :p
I'm well aware they ruined all basketball.

Trying to design, print, and get autos for an entire product in a month is completely impossible.
Panini would have made way more producing 11-12 True RCs.
The lockout prevented them from getting autographs, so unless you wanted 3 redemptions per box, producing 11-12 RCs was completely impossible. They can easily roll out 12-13 autos because the rookies are available to sign before they even play a game, but 11-12 couldn't start until January, and they never even had a Rookie photo shoot to do it at.
You're making an awful lot of assumptions just to convince yourself that Panini hates its collectors.

They killed Timeless Treasures
2009 Timeless Treasures kicked so much ass. Last 3 tins in the case usually have something nice in them.
