Is there a way to remove an autograph made with a sharpie from a mini helmet without damaging it? I'm regretting an autograph I have on there and was just curious! Didn't know if like rubbing alcohol or something else might do the trick.
Thanks.

I'm interested in this as well. I've got a Ravens mini helmet that is signed by Boldin on one side and Torrey on the other when they did a dual signing last year. I want to get rid of Boldin now that he is no longer a Raven.

Nail polish remover or hand sanitizer --- seriously

I have also heard hairspray.
Has anyone actually tried anything before and had it work, without damaging the helmet?

Anything with an organic solvent technically will work on Sharpies, but Nail polish remover (acetone) is one of the best and cheapest.

I'd keep that one being that they won a Super Bowl together. Almost wish I could offer a Torrey Smith solo mini for it. LOL

I'm not sure, but there's an Andy Levitre helmet on eBay thats on a Titans helmet.
Seller says in his listing he got it in an in store signing in Buffalo the DAY Levitre hooked up with the Titans.
Upon further questioning, seller says he removed the Bills sticker and put on a Titans sticker.
Long story short, maybe he knows lol.

Put some goof off on a cotton ball and scrub. You can find it at Walmart or Target for like a $1. I've done it numerous times.

IMO, you're ruining a perfectly good helmet doing that...

This kind of surprised me as well. Don't know why you would want to remove his autograph. He wasn't going to play for the ravens forever, at some point he would retire, be released, or be traded. As others have said, he has been a very good receiver for the team and won a super bowl with Torrey Smith. I personally would think that is really cool. Unless the guy specifically did something that hurt the team, or unless he was just a major bust, I wouldnt want to remove an auto

Yeah, I was really only half serious. I think I am just still stung by the news of him being traded to SF. I really thought he was going to retire in Baltimore. It's going to be really sad not seeing him out there in the black and purple next season.

Bad of the Ravens in my eyes. Go give your QB a crazy amount of money, and then tell his #1 WR to take a paycut?!?!?! Sucks the Ravens had Cam Sucka Cameron, they might have been able to use Boldin right all season.

I have always used Goo Gone. It will even take autos off of photo paper.
I personally would never use nail polish remover, as it's too harsh of a chemical.

pft.. niners wont get out of the nfc west.. the second game the seahawks smashed them last season was just an appetizer of things to come...

those are the only two solid contenders in the NFC imo, giants and packers have some things to address. but either kaep or wilson will be in the super bowl.

I have used hair spray on bats before, I don't know about plastic mini helmets.
Years ago I went to get a Yogi Berra bat signed at a show. In order to get Yogi's autograph, I had to pay for a secondary player to also sign.. I winded up getting some random Met or Yankee (I don't even remember who it was) also sign the Yogi bat, then I removed their signature.
It was pretty scummy of the promoter for doing the secondary player thing. Yogi was one of the headliners and most people there wanted his autograph.. but you not only had to pay for Yogi's autograph but you also had to buy at least one other autograph ticket from someone else.

If you just want a helmet with smith on it why don't you just sell that one and buy a torrey smith autographed one and have money left over?

I've used it on countless PSA and BGS holders without an issue.. where did you hear this? It's citrus acid not sulfuric lol

I have used Goo Gone on plastic several times and it melted it a bit. The plastic items didn't turn to mush but the surface was pitted and damaged.. the melting left a cloudy surface on clear plastics.
I have used Goo Gone on clear plastic card boxes with lots of tape on them, it not only removed the tape but destroyed the boxes.
I have also used Goo Gone on plastic interior car panels to remove paint and it melts the plastic a little.

do you leave it on the surface for a prolonged period of time or something? I dab it on a cotton ball or paper towel and just rub out what I am working on (usually glue residue).. never had what you are describing

I just rubbed it on in a small amount like you are talking about too.
If you have an old plastic box you don't care about, put some tape on it and try to Goo Gone it..

Go with this, I've tried it and works like a gem. You can buy them at any target or grocery store. Removes autos in silver or black in a few seconds just like new
