Personally I think this best describes the cowboys. We are a contending team with line issues. When you have a shot to clench the division in the last game what more can you ask for. Win or lose you have a shot, and with a good draft for the line I think we will make the playoffs. Maybe not next year but I see by 2014 you see the cowboys as a contending team again. As this article states we didn't NEED a huge free agency we have 14 skill positions that are above average or better. We just need a line, with a line for romo we will be golden.

The way they are structuring contracts they'll be in cap hell for the next 6 years. I can't get excited about them anymore.

We will be capped strapped but it is better to have no money them no above average and phenomanal players.

Sorry typed that quick on my phone. I meant it is better if we have no money then having no good players on our team.

Cowboys will remain a sh*tty team as long as romo is the qb.

Romo is a subpar qb.

Maybe average. Haha with his wide outs he should be better then he is. Can't blame offensive line when you throw 6 intros against the eagles d. Haha

Romo is average. The Cowboys are going nowhere. You can ask for a lot more than competing for a playoff spot.

its just unbelievable the Cowboys never draft a qb... Jon Kitna??? seriously..

they had a good qb in Stephen Mcgee and he is gone..

I would have drafted Brock Osweiler, maybe get Nick Foles or something

ROMO WILL NEVER BE a WINNER.. doest have the Tebow inside him

Romo is a great QB and I'd be all for foles riding the pine behind Tony for a few year but would the eagles trade him

With upgrades to the o line I can see a playoff team for 2013.

I didn't want to get called bias for it but with an upgraded line, healthy D we will be playoff bound

sports is all about competition and performance.. you can be the best sprinter in the world and some locals can see it, but when you then go to the olympics and for whatever reason you just cant perform then you cant be truly great...
you just had the potential but couldnt peform..

Romo is just like that.....

I would rather have a sniper who in practice is decent but when it comes to the real thing he gets it right in the bullseye everytime.. as opposed to a guy who thinks he is all that because in practice he hits everything, but then messes up

Romo has had a decent if not good offensive line all the time, if you cant get it done with Miles Austin and Dez.. your in trouble..

this Dwayne Harris guy could be a nice #3 for now possibly # 2

With your logic, Roethlisberger is the best QB of all-time because of how he played with piss-poor, I mean REALLY piss-poor offensive lines.

never said that, im just saying romo has had sh it lines. roethlisberger has such a bad line most games he plays on his back

Romo's track record in the playoffs speaks for itself. There is nothing more to talk about as far as he goes. If you are having a Romo discussion, so far he's a "one and out" QB...nothing more and I have no reason to think he will ever be anything more than that...hopefully, he will prove that wrong...but, until then...

what do you know your a giants fan :)! ill agree due to him and some problems with the team that he couldnt control he is a one win in the playoffs QB but dont forget we have been there multiple times, once just a few years ago when we lost to the vikings, and once when we lost to the seahawks. the vikings season we one our first game and lost the next.

The goal is winning the Superbowl. Not making the playoffs.

Cowboys fan from birth...only reason I even keep up with the Giants is AB, now that he's gone and hopefully wont go back there again, i could care less about the Giants.

and no, it's not the team...Romo's last pass as of now was an INT that cost them the game...that's on him.

The Seattle game where he muffed the ball while trying to impersonate an NFL holder, that's on him.

Most of the stuff he's done to blow a game is pretty much on him and his poor decisions.

Cowboys are a team that really tries to win and they always have decent players on both sides of the ball... but Romo has 1 playoff win since 2003... he just isnt consistent enough to get them anywhere. The minute they get rid of him they are a better team.

I agree... he is just not a winner. if we want to win we need another qb and maybe owner. jerry is just too stubborn.

I dont know why has to keep Romo... he will never be seen as a Cowboys Star at least not by be.

its been like 4-5 years that I wished he was out, only to hear that he will be given another chance and that he has good stats.. come on, no Cowboy fan should back this guy

You put Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray, Dez, Miles, and Witten in the same huddle as even an average line and you have a 10-6 team easy.

I applaud the optimism of the writer of the article and the OP...Romo is a good quarterback when he doesn't have to be clutch. He fails too often when he has to get it done, and that's one of the main reasons why the Cowboys haven't been winners in recent years.

Nope, but I've seen enough of Romo failing in the clutch to know that he's not a winner and doesn't have the "it" factor that Brady, Rodgers, etc. have.

The it factor being a solid line.

Romo's sack % is 107 career...was 108 last year...100 is avg...above is better, below is worse.

how you going to blame the line?

Romo reminds me a lot of a poor man's Brett Favre, moments of brilliance and moments where you just shake your head. Favre did win a Super Bowl but how many times did he come up short in the Playoffs or just make a stupid throw to cost his team a win?
