Threw a scoreless inning...... but fastball was only 82-86 MPH???? What? I heard yesterday his fastball is slow in ST every year but starting to get worried. Talked to my friend who coaches on the Phillies and he said Roy is fine, just not what he was

Don't worry, Michael Pineda's fastball was down last spring, but as we all know it's just spring training.
Bwahahahahahaha!

His fastball has been #@#@#@#@ this spring, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a elbow/shoulder issue.

Yeah i think the excessive workouts and innings throughout his career are starting to take their toll. He would get to the facility at 5:00 AM daily until nighttime, sometimes you just need a break

Papelbon had a stomach virus last week. Possibly something going around the clubhouse. And not 82-86 on the fastball. More like a consistent 87, from reports I read, but it was only 1 inning.

Oh yeah read the wrong thing took him 25 pitches for the 1st. The 1st has always been his worst inning

In his prime, from 2002-2012 he had 8 seasons of over 220+ innings pitched by my count. Like a lot of dominate pitchers, after their prime, they must reinvent themselves to continue with any long-term effectiveness. HOF'er no doubt, but needs to change his approach to pitching if he wants to continue with his career.

Not sure age is the determining factor, but 35 years old is not exactly young for a power pitcher. He has a lot of innings on his arm. Moyer was never a power pitcher, thus he was able to compile stats through a very long career. That is not going to happen for Halladay, nor does he need it to considering his historic numbers thus far into his career.

I don't think he's hurt I think he's just old and all those innings Toronto put on him are catching up with him all at once. He'll still be good for 12-15 wins most likely. But there are going to be some ugly ugly games mixed in there as well.

It's obvious that this is a scheme that Halladay and Anthopoulos are in on to ensure that Halladay will return to Toronto and so that the Blue Jays don't have to give up any more than a J.A. Happ + 2 dead-end prospects package for the "damaged" Halladay.

It's been trending down and he's going to have to become a crafty pitcher, which I believe he can, but he'll never be a top tier pitcher again. The Phillies should be thrilled there is a 0% chance he'll get the innings in this year to guarantee that option is picked up.
