Looks like it was sort of pasted on top of a thin jersey piece. Some of the SP Authentic cards have a thin "patch" making it just a jersey really. And this one looks like it was slid in.

I don't know though. I don't feel safe bidding on it, that's for sure. There's so many fakers out there nowadays...not saying this guy is a faker, but he could've bought a fake unknowingly.

Edit: Here are some other fishy ones from the same seller. Can the /999 versions really have such crazy patches?

With all of those logos coming from the same seller, i would say it is 95% fake.

Honestly, it just appears (to me) that he collected SP Authentic patches for awhile, and just gave up so he's selling all the ones he has. Yes, these are really good patches, but if he bought them, he probably only bought the really good patches. His feedback is flawless also, so I wouldn't be concerned.

It's getting so hard for buyers to try and purchase patches nowadays. These companies have to create some sort of system to prevent fake patches, maybe a photo system, where each card is scanned and can be looked at from the company's website.

It's a good idea, but would take waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much work.

Why don't you, instead of bashing others' ideas (which there is nothing wrong with doing if it's justified), you give a counter-idea as well? This way it comes across as productive rather than just posting to be negative.

I happen to agree with you that it would take too long to do. I think a better solution would be to send a scan of the card in question to the company, and they should KNOW what they're selling to the point where they will recognize it as a fake. At that point, they should provide some kind of documented certificate stating it is a fake and help pursue legal action.

eBay needs to take serious look into the issue as well, not just the card companies. They hide behind their policies and fine print but in reality they know what's going on. All they care about is their cut, doesn't matter if it's shady. They need to start listening to their customers (because we ARE their customers), or it's going to bite them in the end.

So in short these two venues just need to be willing to crack down on these jackasses and set the record straight, or else it will be so bent out of shape by the time they are LOSING money over it (eg: lost credibility, customer dissatisfaction), it will be too late. It's only a matter of time beore more people realize what's really going on.

I didn't mean to come across that way. I was just explaining that it would not be possible because of the time it would take. Sorry. If I had a solid solution I would offer it but I really don't know what can be done. I also agree that eBay takes their "as listed" policies too serious. There have been way too many fake cards sold especially recently.
