How in the heck do you let Jake Long end up in Free Agency? Let alone let him sign somewhere else when he's there?

Overrated and injured the past two years = not worth the money

But you guys got Mike Wallace!

I kinda expected this since last season. He wanted 10 mil a season. He didnt get that but close. If he was healthy he never would have been able to walk away they would have paid him w/ no issues.
Now that he is gone i was reading they look like they may now go after Eric Winston.
Yea i know not the same but as long as Tannehill (who i know you hate) doesnt get pummlled and can improve than i am ok with this.

Yay. A speed only WR with iffy hands and no QB to get him the ball. Might as well have kept Marshall, at least he'd have called out Tanne by now.

I really dont like this front office.

Not much of a loss in my opinion. Long has missed 3-4 games each of the last 2 seasons and the Fins have not really suffered. He was great in his prime, but I think the injuries have taken their toll on Jake. He'll be a solid OT for a few more years, but not worth the $10M/yr he wanted. It's a business, unfortunately.

Yup, I say sign Winston or Vollmer, and go after Dumervil, draft a CB in 1st rd

Glad that I don't have to continue to read how Jake Long is better than Joe Thomas.

I would argue the phins can find a replacement at a value better than his 10 mill he wanted. Teams assign each player a value, you cant jeopardize your future over an oft injured former # 1 pick if he is not at your assigned market value.. Simple Business.

Miami is giving Eric Winston a look to replace long or they'll draft a replacement. The money wasn't there for 9 million per season.

They aren't just going to go into next season without replacing him. I rather have playmakers then OTs.

I don't know why but this comment made me laugh. He's only played in the league for 5 years and is only 27 years old. For good OL, he's just entering his prime years. Of course, I don't think he will stay healthy for them.

In the soft FA market, he didn't get near what he thought he would (like many players, i.e. Cliff Avril).

??? How is a RT/G going to replace Jake Long?

Also, LT is a VERY important position. Without someone solid there, doesnt matter who your playmakers are.

They had no intention of resigning Long - he never should have been a Dolphin anyways imo. Should have been Matt Ryan. But that was my preference.

Long is a great tackle, but as mentioned, often injured now and overpaid.

Yeah. thats one where the front office did not drop the ball..... you know, like Marshall does 10% of the time.

HAHAHA! You really want to go there? Alright. Here we go.

Brandon Marshall

4 Time Pro Bowler
1 Time First team all pro.

2012 Stats:

118 Rec (2nd in leagues)

1508 Yards (3rd in league)

11 Tds(4th in league)

Career Accolades:

6 Straight 1000 yard seasons
4x 100 Rec
45 Career TDs.

Yep, He's awful, We way overpaid on the two THIRD round picks we paid for him, While a guy that has never had 1000 yards in a season in Harvin yielded a first rounder. Have fun with one route Wallace(Who, by the way, has neverand will never touch 1500 yards in a season)

Name the last SuperBowl team with an All-Pro LT. The position is overrated. We will get someone that will fill in quite nicely.

You have no idea how wrong you really are.

1. Jake Long, Dolphins – $11,200,000
2. Trent Williams, Redskins – $11,000,000
3. Joe Thomas, Browns – $10,500,000
4. Jason Smith, Rams – $10,000,000
5. Jordan Gross, Panthers – $9,500,000
6. Jason Peters, Eagles – $8,250,000
7. Michael Roos, Titans – $7,300,000
8. Andre Smith, Bengals – $6,508,000
9. David Stewart, Titans – $6,200,000
10. Donald Penn, Buccaneers – $5,900,000

Those are the highest paid tackles in the NFL. 2 playoff teams in the bunch.

6 of those are because they were top 4 draft picks. And because you wanted to leave out Russell Okung and Ryan Clady. Truth be told, i think the Fins went this route b/c the draft is lineman deep. Still dont like losing a talent like Long with so much cap room.

I'm happy with the Rams signing him, we had to take the chance. Still pissed off we didn't get a number one WR, maybe one day....
