It doesn't seem like he gets really any hobby love. For being the first triple crown winner in a long time, his stuff is still fairly inexpensive. I'm very surprised about that. I figured his stuff would be selling pretty high these days. What are your thoughts on why this is??

Because for some reason no one cares about the established players. All anyone cares about is prospects, I dont get it, but thats how it is nowadays. Id rather have an auto of a Triple Crown Winner than a Prospect who may or may not pan out.

I agree with the op... First triple crown, multi all star, mvp, batting crown, ect, ect, ect... but cards less than kids who have not played a full season of pro ball... The hobby is what it is, doesnt mean I have to agree with it. Same for Mantle, Aaron, Robinson, ect...

Who? The person who didn't win the MVP and didn't take his team to the World Series?

Oh that's right, the guy that won the MVP because according to voters only 3 stats matter in baseball.

Let me know when Trout hits .318, with 30+ HRs, 98 runs, 112 RBIs ... you know, averages for a decade-long career. :)! Some many people don't understand a thing called a sample size.

Where did Mr. Trout take his team in the playoffs? Wait, they didn't make the playoffs.

Some people don't also realize that OBP > batting average and RBI is based on opportunity...

Anyways, I prefer Cabrera stuff to stay cheaper compared to what it probably should be.

The Angels won more games than the Tigers. Please take the "playoffs" rebuttle, crumble it up, and throw it in the trash.

Cabrera is incredibly talented way more dominant then Trout in 90% of the relevant catagories, Trouts Defense is the only reason he should ever of been considered for the MVP...
Trout & Harper get way more love then they deserve (especially Harper) at this time yes trout had a outstanding rookie campaign but can he continue as for Harper I was not impressed with anything about him other then his hussle... Not saying either won't be leitimate All-Stars eventually but I'm seeing people put them both on "Locks" for future HoFers and they haven't even played full seasons yet I'VE Never had a crush on a man before so I guess I don't understand all the hype

Can you tell me which ones are the "relevant" categories. And please, don't respond if one of them is RBI.

Let me guess your one of the millions of MikeTrout's Trout sniffers right and you probably think Sabermetrics is everything? Ok that's fine for the non-sabermetric people these categories cabrera finished in higher then your boy so you don't get confused Cabreras stats will be first and then trout understand ok good, Hits 205-182, 2b 40-27, HR 44-27, XBH 84-65, RBI 139-83 (don't want me to bring this up why?) BA .333-.326, SLG .606-.564, SO 98-139 + AB 622-559 SO% 14.1%- 21.8%, OPS .999-.991, TB 377-363, IBB 17-4 I'm sure there's more I can get all the stats if you would like you can't compare Trout to Cabrera there way to different in there style of playing I'm not hating on trout I would like to have him on my team I'm just saying he's not quite Cabrera as of now maybe if he juiced up

Let's just totally forget the fact that Trout missed almost the entire first month and batted leadoff. The fact that RBI is used to argue true player production is just mind boggling. Yes, good players will drive in runs, but if Player A has three All Stars batting in front of him and Player B has three minor leaguers in front of him, who do you think will have more RBI? Player A, right? Does that make him the better player?

Trout makes a difference wherever he is on the field. Cabrera only makes a difference at the plate.

Also, you said Cabrera was way more dominant, and considering that Trout was brought up a little latter and batted 1st, I fail to see how dominating Cabrera was over him.

The same can be said for runs scored then right? I hear that A LOT in the Trout Vs. Cabrera debate I don't disagree trout is a good/great player but you cant compare the 2 they are completely different in what they do

I'm not looking to fight w/anyone everyone is entitled to their opinion can we agree that Cabrera had a better year and deserved the MVP if Cabrera didn't hit the Triple Crown it woulda been a lot closer and trout deserved the ROY? Let's see what he does this year then we can crown him the 2nd coming

No offense to the OP because I am pretty sure he didn't intend for this thread to turn out the way it did, but the Miguel Cabrera vs. Mike Trout is so incredibly annoying. There were probably 20+ threads about last fall. It is a new season, so PLEASE let it die. They are both great players....PERIOD.

If the MVP talk comes down to those 2 again at the end of this season, please feel free to argue back and forth in 20 more threads......

You're coming off as a massive homer. Seriously, who uses ABs, for example, in a comparison, especially when 1 guy was in the minors for the first month of the year?

It's not just you though, I've seen a ton of Tigers fans on here who do the same things.

Yeah, I didn't want imagine this would turn into a Cabrera vs Trout argument....

I was just stating from what I've noticed since he won the Triple Crown, was that his stuff isn't really moving at high values. It's nice because I can pick stuff up, but one would have thought that him winning it would have had some sort of increase in his prices.

The hobby just baffles me at times.

I think part of it could be that he isn't a huge power guy...he is a great hitter, arguably second best of the last decade, but has 'only' hit 40+hr once, that being this past season.

He is better now than when in Florida, so at 29 has a chance to gain popularity. Off the field troubles maybe didn't help either.

I picked up a ton of those Triple Crown autos from 2013 Topps, for surprisingly reasonable prices. Kinda shocking.

He needs to keep delivering for a couple more years to get more hobby love. Besides, he signs a lot could be another reason.
