View Full Version : Tying it all together now ... or, "An Improvement in Listing Efficiency"

So I've posted a couple of polls (here (http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/baseball/499443-2013-bowman-whos-breaking-how-much.html) and here (http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/baseball/499595-2013-bowman-whos-breaking-how-much-part-2-a.html)) on 2013 Bowman in the last 48 hours, and some time before those I asked a quite-pointed question pertaining to "listing efficiency" (http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/baseball/482261-question-case-breakers.html) (that is, how quickly one can get his/her cards listed after a break). The results, although thus far with small samples, are about what I expected:
- There are many breakers of 1+ cases of 2013 Bowman release;
- Of all those breaking 2013 Bowman, a considerable number plan to list most/all of their cards immediately after ripping;
- Some breakers have a tendency to grow weary of the breaking process during the listing phase, which can lead to becoming overwhelmed and "giving up" in the middle of a break.
Many seasoned breakers have developed their own personalized processes for listing their cards, and operate at maximum efficiency given those processes. Many other breakers are typically slow (read: yours truly) and have trouble getting even a case-worth of hits listed in one evening. Whether you are fast or slow, the listing process is undeniably monotonous (scan cards ... edit titles ... edit prices ... add pictures ... wait ... upload listings ... rinse and repeat).
To the point: I am working on a method to improve listing efficiency, and I'd like to test it out on a handful of willing breakers of 2013 Bowman. The process will be rather strict, and will require participants to move away from their usual methods ... so if you are highly comfortable with your current listing process, then even this 'beta test' may not be for you.
Just to give you an idea of what we're looking at here ... I recently listed 100-120 singles from EEE baseball in under 2 hours, from start (scans) to finish (listings uploaded). Even better, I didn't want to gouge my eyes out when it was over.
If this interests you, and you are breaking Bowman in two weeks, please send me a PM and I will give you some more details. If this does not interest you, then ... I guess post a cute picture of a cat or something. ;)

i open one box of HTA & one box of hobby... find the auto spot, then find those packs in the remaining boxes..... and rip. getting the autos listed first is what's most important to me. i don't even look at the base if it's not a refractor or parallel. i sell all the base in one big unsorted lot.
i already have 300 listings made up for the autos & the different colored autos for each player and another hundred made up for colored non-autos. minis, ice...etc for the bigger prospects.
i scan as i go. then, when i'm done scanning the autos, i insert pics in TL and add Serial numbers..... then upload.
as i open the rest, i look for the big colors & parallels and scan those as i go. other autos are just extra surprises !!!!
this has worked well for me since '04. i won't have a problem busting/listing 5 HTA & 3 Hobby in about 6 hours.

Just imagine if you didn't have to upload those pesky pictures ... if they just appeared into Turbolister ... :)

I'd love to know more...
However I am not planning on ripping and flipping 2013 bowman, but I do have a about 1000 cards that need listing (that will likely all go in a single mega lot)...
2013 Bowman rippers and flippers are fools if they don't take up this offer!

I bought 2 Hobby cases just to sit on in hopes of a price rise in the near future. I don't know if I have the patience to rip 2 cases and list everything. It's just much easier to not do any work and hopefully make a profit lol.

The fun in it is counting those benjamin's when the case price doubles...well hopefully that's what happens :)!

That's like hitting a home run and going straight to the dugout. You never experience the joy of trotting around the bases. :)!

I'll be curious to see what you come up with.
I no longer sell, but my best system involved using Selling Manager Pro templates and "Sell Similar"-ing the heck out of similar listings. Slowest part was the photo uploads and editing the card details.

This intrigues me because at first glance, this leaves File Exchange and an Excel CSV file. If this is the case, I'd offer a word of warning that File Exchange does not upload your listings in order. For someone like myself who depends greatly on the listings being in order, this was a deal breaker.
I can't promise that I'll break a case of '13 Bowman, because I dont like the prospect releases, but I'd like to be involved in this in some way. I have a good knowledge of listing efficiency. I'd gladly give up a couple of tricks to learn a couple of tricks.

I am very interested but I am still unsure of how much I will sell and how much I will keep. I would be interested seeing how others do with this. Maybe for Bowman Draft we can try something as will be doing a minimum of 15 cases but will push breaking 25 if everything goes according to "plan" if there is such a thing.

I totally understand. Bowman was not the best break for me to start this out with, but that's just how it happened. :)

It didn't. I ran out of time. :o
My brain is budding with ideas though. Or pudding with ideas. I'm not sure.
