Card You Wish You Bought...

I'm digging some of the threads here and thought this would be a good idea. What are some cards you wish you had bought but didn't? I'm not talking about cards you wish you had bought because they're worth more than they once were but cards you wish you had bought but didn't and now you can't find one.

I had a chance at one about several months ago and passed it up. It's the only Jerry Hughes auto I'm missing and now I can't find one!!!! :mad:

back in '03 when he was a rookie I can remember seeing the leaf certified mirror black quad mem/auto 1/1 RC of Andre Johnson up on ebay. It sold for around $600 or so. Would love to have scored that one...

That's a beauty for sure. I'd shell out a nice mint for the Dallas Clark LCM Mirror Black Auto but I've never even seen it.

In my short timespan back in the hobby (1yr) i would have to say most recently the Cush Black Finite 1/1 auto. Damn you Jack!!!!!!!

I missed the Chrome Super of MK by 10 days, had not started to collect him. Would love to have that one now. It's sitting in some eBay high rollers collection, doubt I see it again.

I didn't have enough cash to grab the 04 Prime Signatures Platinum D.J. Hackett/Jeff Smoker 1/1 back in 04-05. Kills me that I couldn't pull the scratch together in time. $116, still sticks in my mind. I had just picked up another 1/1 a week earlier and exhausted the tradebait and little cash I had at 16 to make it happen. Sadly it's worth next to nothing now, but I would jump on it in a heartbeat if I found it again. The one that got away I suppose.

Last one has to be another Hackett. 06 Topps DP&P Gold Chrome Refractor /25. Got outbid on one shortly after release, figured it was no big deal since there were 24 more. That was 7 years ago...

I was trying to make the 2011 Finest rainbow non auto for Torrey Smith picked up all but the red, mosaic, and super including all the atomic ones as well minus that super. I had enough money in my account and the super surfaced. It was ending on a Saturday morning my time 6 AM which was before he blew up on the Rams with that 3 TD game. I woke up in time but forgot about bidding on it because I was too excited to go surfing. I got out of the hobby a few years to early back in 99, I know I would have bought at least 2 cases of 2003-2004 exquisite basketball based on my buying habits.

Well, other than the obvious rookie autos, etc, there is one card that escaped my grasps a few years ago and is now going for a good bit more than when it sold. I was trying to buy a Benny Friedman 1/1 cut auto from Donruss Classics back in 09 or so. Of course, I had a slow phone at the time, so sniping was risky, but I took the risk and failed. I was going to bit over $300 for it but my phone didn't send quick enough. So I missed out and it sold for $225. Not saying I would have won, but there was a good chance. Now a 1/1 will sell for around double what I would have paid, maybe more. I do have a nicer auto of him now though on an envelope, so I can't complain there, but just wish I would have gotten that back then.

Yeah, I'm only referring to cards that are regretfully not purchased because they are a bitch to find, not because they have elevated in value (e.g. a 2000 Contenders Tom Brady RC).

I'd have to add 2004 Ben Hartsock Bowman's Best Red Auto /50. It really shouldn't be so hard to find. I passed on one back in 2009 that sold for $12. I figured I'd find another one later for cheaper. Four years later I have yet to find a single one on Ebay or anywhere else. COMC, Sportlots, nada. Pisses me off. The guy is a total scrub and with 50 copies, it shouldn't be hard to find at all but I'll be damned if I can find it. :confused:
