Ebay just screwed us all (.ca option)

Took away the option of using .ca when you want to see the Best Offer of a card that just sold.

Ridiculous. I see no reason as to why it shouldn't show up automatically anyways.

Yeah, until they change it for the mobile apps too. Plus, that's a pain in the ass; especially if you're in a hurry to get a price on something.

We knew it was coming, and it's finally here. Someone posted in another thread on this subject that you can get approximate prices by narrowing the price range in your search results until the card no longer shows up. Which is fiddly and dumb. I'm sure ebay is making more money off of this change somehow - some psychological thing where people see the BIN price and don't realize there was a best offer accepted, and pay more for things based off of the BIN price. Makes sense for them but is just an annoyance for those of us who actually know what we're doing.

So if I want close to what a card is worth I should go off a BIN price that is $100+ more than what the actual price is. This doesn't make any sense. How can I negotiate a fair price if I have no idea of some recent sales data? :confused:

I have thought about that, but it's just not worth the $30 a month (or whatever it is) for the amount of buying/selling I do (which isn't much). It's just hard for me to justify spending $30 a month when I'm typically only selling $75 worth of stuff or less. Most of the buying I do is Delgado cards and I don't really need completing listings for that anymore.

Maybe I'll just bite the bullet one day though. God knows I waste $30 a month on less valuable things.

I know that them taking away the ability to see Buy It Now offers seems bad, but it could also be a good thing as well. I know that when I bust wax I usually have a general idea of what a card may be worth on eBay. It is disheartening though when you go on eBay and you see sellers dump cards for low prices so they can try and recoup as much of their cost as possible. Sometimes these desperate sellers set the price for a card that may get more if a more patient seller held it and sold it. I know this might be a rare case, but there is a bit of sunshine here, just have to try and see it.

If it's a popular item you can also view completed and sort by price. Best Offer sales will sort with the best offer price, not the BIN. Equally annoying as the above method but a bit quicker.

Strange. It linked thru for me last night. I made sure to test that.

Maybe it has something to do with me having been signed into ebay at the time? Or just a temp URL created when someone hits the print link button that is auto purged after a certain interval? dunno


Anyways, someone else mentioned the print listing thing in a thread months and months ago.
So long as ebay doesnt shut that down as well its a very quick & simple process.
