Football season is right around the corner and many of us are completing our off season pick ups. I am not a huge fan of sticker or trapped auos but will purchase if they look ok. There are fewer on-card auo sets and some are not targets of collectors/speculators because the players are in college uniforms. 2012 was one of the best lasses nd many players will emerge from that class to be solid if not star players in the NFL. How would you rank these popular or underappreciated sets.

National Treaures
Five Star
Panini Black
Panini Prime Signatures
Topps Valor

My ranking would be:

National Treasures
Panini Black
Panini Prime Signatures
Topps Five Star
Topps Valor

I think the Prime Signatures Jumbo Patches is actually a better design than the NT but NT has the history.

Are the crown royale silhouettes all in card...I think they are? They would be on my list. NT and Black would be up there, five star is nice, but don't seem to have the value for a price of the product. I enjoyed valor, but don't know if it was the card finish, but a lot signatures I have seen have been streaky (not full).

Black is the most unique of all of them, and it's probably the most affordable too.

Clear Cuts are nice but the Signature Relics (shadowboxes) are better!

my list is for this year only! My choice was not on history, sale/resale value or any other factors, just the set design and my opinion of it.

Strata Signature Relics
Panini Black
Five Star
National Treasures
Panini Prime Signatures
Topps Valor

I know the Clear Cut are on-card, but they just don't feel like it. They are nice, but ranking hem at top? I have a couple that I pulled, but the auto just does not pop on the plastic. Also don't think those would be rc's

I said it in HTTR's thread, but if I could do 2012 all over again, I would have definitely built a Panini Black set for sure and went after as many cards as possible from this set. I have a feeling that this is going to be one of those sets that over the years becomes more and more collectible and, therefore, more valuable over time. I think I was originally skeptical because of all the redemptions, but it's turned out to not be that bad at all. You can sort of see it already - a few of the harder to find cards have been creeping up in price as people try and finish their sets.

I'd rank them -
1) Panini Black
2) National Treaures
3) Five Star
4) Panini Prime Signatures
a distant 5) Topps Valor

If we aren't factoring in the value of the cards and are basing it just off of look and design, then national treasures should be last. All the cards are plain white, hell, i'd put prime signatures ahead of it factoring in affordability.
